MonstaMunch: I don't mean to be rude, but your definition of magic doesn't fit anything I've seen or heard before, whereas your first example of a miracle is a popular magic trick (much like walking on water).
I'll leave it at that, as it's unlikely we'll agree.
Again, congrats on building a game and putting it out there for people to play. That in itself is great :)
Thanks. :D It was ages ago when I built it and I hope I make better games these days. I just never finish them anymore. Getting old did that. Hehe.
I found a great definition for magic from, none other, the dictionary! I think it's nice and succinct:
the art of producing a desired effect or result through the use of incantation or various other techniques that presumably assure human control of supernatural agencies or the forces of nature.
And here's dictionary.com's miracle:
an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.
The big difference looks like who is in control. The magician or the diety. But both events challenge our understanding of the natural order.
Of course, our understanding of the natural order of things is still incredibly limited. I think that many times magic or miracle is claimed, it's neither. It just happens to be natural. But I still think that both can still happen today.
