definitely one of my faves growing up. That tower level with the ghosts was a pain in the ass though, hated that part.

Same for me, the first time I tried it. Then I found out in a walk-through that you could just use one of those magic-absorbing cubes on the ghosts! (so just clear the tower before using it up to dissolve the second gate IIRC). So on my second attempt, through DOS Box a few years back, I beat the game :)
And IMO LoL: Throne of Chaos has the best VGA graphics of any game. Especially those cutscenes (drool).

Well, there is also The Dig. But you are right, Westwood games always were absolutely gorgeous. Their art team was leaps and bounds better than everyone else's at the time. When I first saw the Mentat / encyclopedia screens of Dune II, my jaw hit the floor.

I loved the music in the game, that still brings back memories.
Let's not forget Dune 2. I preferred to watch the art in that game, including the info the Mentat had on vehicles and buildings, to the actual gameplay lol.
difficulty setting ? does this game have a difficulty setting ? thanks

Yes, it has three difficulties for battles. Check the options.

Lands of Lore 1 is still a very good game. I replay it every once in a while.
