I am contemplating getting a ps3 to play some of the exclusives that you'd find on that console. Since I intend to only play a few games on it there is no need for me to go in for a brand new one.

I came across CEX and while they seem to have a reasonably good deal on a used 500 gb ps3 (in bombay) and they offer a 1 year warranty as well. However I'd always like to check online when something appears to be too good to be true.

Would anyone here have any experiences with them and would it be a safe place to buy? Didn't know where else to ask.

Read some bad reviews and am a bit wary now.

Can't speak for how CEX is in India, but I've been to various CEX stores in the UK and never had much of a problem with them. Also, can't speak for hardware (as it obviously all comes with British plugs, which are no good to me except with an adapter), but I've never bought a broken used game from them, unlike places like Game, where every other game seems to be broken.
I have used them in Ireland with no problems, but I would never buy a "used" console except for spare parts. As with all 2nd hand items, sure they will have a minimum guarantee, but you are still taking a risk. I don't think original guarantees last beyond the first owner.
Thanks for the feedback mate. I suppose paying a few grand more for a brand new console would give me some 'peace of mind' should something go wrong and the store does not exactly do refunds. So 'buyer's caveat' still applies.

Lionel212008:
I bought a spare PS3 instead of a PS4 and I got a great deal in Argos, for €250 I got a 500gig PS3 with GTA5 and The Last of Us as one bundle (Normal price here €300), so, with the advent of the PS4 there will be lots of deals floating around.

So shop around before committing :)
