sai: Wow interesting that your hearing can be used as sonar! And that you were affected by electrical equipment too.
I think so far its just been equipment that is old or possibly has a fault or certain frequency issue, don't seem to get blasted with ringing going into an electronics shop on a general basis thankfully.
It's probably more common than people think, it's just not something that I ever thought was weird until years later. People who really care, can generally train to do it, it's just usually easier for blind folks or those that are already using their ears to see for other reasons.

I've found the accuracy to be about 3 or so inches, which is often better than my eyes if I've forgotten my sunglasses at home.
for myself, I can pickup sound very well - I can tell even very faint sounds are there - but I have a lot of trouble distinguishing between sounds - i.e. between the voice and the melody of a song, particularly if the voice isn't well contrasted against the music (more than most other people - i.e. everyone else can understand what is being sung, but I have more trouble).
I have used bug studio headphones for PC gaming since forever ago. Can't imagine doing anything else. It's so immersive and prevents me from bugging my girl.

One reason I don't like console gaming is the whole TV couch living room sound system thing. Just not how I want to game.
