If you preordered Botanicula on GOG.com or have been paying attention to this quirky adventure game, you very probably heard all of the noise around the Humble Botanicula Debut and how some users were left rather unhappy about paying $8.99 for a preorder of the game while people who bought it on day one could pay whatever they wanted for it and they got more goodies than the GOG.com preorder provided.

This left an unsurprisingly sour taste in some gamers’ mouths, and we were just as surprised by the launch of the Humble Botanicula Debut as anyone else was. As soon as we saw the bundle, we reached out to the guys at Amanita about providing our users with something in return for their preorders; we got them to agree to give us a number of goodies from the bundle, and we’re giving you and every other user who bought the game before 12:00 GMT on the 20th of April will receive a few things. Everyone who bought Botanicula before we published this news will automatically be getting Machinarium to your shelf on Monday, and we’ll be emailing all of those purchasers with links where they can download the full soundtrack and a special artbook of Botanicula designs and character sketches.

Finally, we wanted to give you guys something that you couldn’t get in the Humble Bundle to make sure that you didn’t feel like you got a raw deal. To that end, courtesy of our fine friends at CDP RED, we’re happy to let you know that we’re also giving you and everyone else who already bought Botanicula a free copy of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut! This game will also be on your shelf on Monday, so look for it then.

At GOG.com, we’ll never knowingly disappoint you, and while this preorder mishap may have made you a little unhappy, we hope that you enjoy Botanicula--it’s a fantastic game and many of us here at the office are fans--and, if you’d like to say “thanks!” to our pals at CDP RED, check out The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, available right now at your favorite DRM-free game store, GOG.com.

Have a great weekend!

sevenbartenders: This always seems to happen to me, I buy a game on GOG and two days later is the chance to get it for less or free. I just bought the Witcher 1 for 50% off and now I could have gotten it for pre-ordering botanicula. Oh well, nice bonus for those of us who haven't bought it yet.
I would point out that you got the Witcher: Enhanced Edition for $4.99, and the preorder for Botanicula was $8.99. So you saved money! :)

Rodzaju: I bought the game as a gift for someone else.
Who gets these extra goodies, me or my friend?
I am interested in getting the free Machinarium, but would want to pass on the Botanicula goodies to my friend.
I also have no use for the free Witcher, as I already have it, but I'm not sure if my friend does.
Is this possible?
That's...quite complex. I don't think we have a good way to do it, but ask Support on Monday and they may be able to help you sort things out.

Leroux: Were the e-mails with the links to the bonus stuff sent already or might it still take a while for them to reach every single one of us? I didn't receive an e-mail yet, but I'm not sure whether I'm in the target group, as I didn't pre-order but I bought the game here before April 20th - and according to the newspost that should let me benefit of the deal, too? I don't need the giveaway games and soundtrack but I'd really like the artbook.
The email will probably take a little while; we're also sending out all of the emails for the weekend sale. If you don't see anything in your inbox by Monday, contact Support and they will get you sorted. ;)
Hey Everyone,
Thank you for your support, that means the world to us.
Because the weekend has begun, I now recommend playing some awesome games, naturally from GOG.com (like I'll do :-).

Cheers!

ithilien827: Have GOG said anything about whether we can gift the two extra games (at least if we already own them)?
Contact support if you own both games here at GOG.com; they'll take care of you.

EDIT: ninja'ed!

pdclose: So far I am unimpressed, and getting concerned. I have written them several times, with no response. Their own purchase agreement says I only have 7 days to request a refund, and it's going to be more than 7 days before I hear from them. If they expect me to act within 7 days, I expect the same of them. I can't help but feel some concern about ordering from them again in the future; so far it seems there is no one there who can help me.
I'm confused; what are you asking Support to do?
Note: anyone who doesn't have their link to the bonus goodies, please check your spam filter. We sent the link out to everyone last Friday.

SirPrimalform: Thought GOG's policy was 'no refunds', not 'within 7 days'. Any idea where the 7 days thing is coming from?
I believe it is now, "If you haven't downloaded the game and it is within 7 days of your purchase."
