Oh? I thought GOG was immune to that. I'm sure one of the Team said something about a switch if GOG ever went down.

SCPM: GOG is going to reveal something at E3 according to recent reports:
"The next few months will be very important for GOG.com, who is working on two development projects. Already at E3 in Los Angeles, the company will present a new technology that will allow it to expand service offer with new products, expand its functionality and attract new customers."

Maybe a client, maybe some kind of emulator, we'll see. :)
My guess is an optional client, which is a good thing, but naturally I'd be more excited if it was specifically related to classics, like AMIGA emulation.

Although, if it were some sort of multiplayer software that allowed, say, the Homeworld games to appear (I know, I know, Gearbox might not like GOG), or other multiplayer classics, that would be super-sweet too.

I'll stay relatively pessimistic for now ("GOG is proud to announce you can now play SMITE and other MMOF2P titles on our service!") so I'll be overjoyed if it's actually related to classics. A freeware classic would be nice to celebrate, though.

Celton88: I would think one of the announcements would have to do with Linux support.
avatar
JudasIscariot: We announced that a while back :)
So? Whats it about then?

But all you guys said is that it was coming soon, meaning when it actually comes out it should merit another announcement :)

They did not mention the exact date, but they did say:
"That means that right now, we're hammering away at testing games on a variety of configurations, training up our teams on Linux-speak, and generally getting geared up for a big kick-off in the fall with at least 100 Linux games ready for you to play. "

You mean like the fabled Site Update, which will fix all bugs, add all wanted features, end poverty and hunger and bring world peace, which has been coming "really soon" for more than a year now?

"GOG, why don't you fix this really annoying site bug which shouldn't take more than an hour to do?"

"Because the Site Update is coming "really soon", so wait for that".

;-p
