Hi guys,

So I pre-ordered the Witcher 3, as soon as I learned that I could get a better price for having TW1+2. So far so good.

Then they also promise me 12 dollar in gifts, since we Europeans get shafted in relation to American customers. Okay, that's awesome!
What they failed to mention was, that this 12 dollar GoG gift comes at very heavy restrictions. Not mentioning this at all when offering the game is really dirty business I did not expect from GoG or the much hailed customer-friendly CD Projekt RED. But whatever, it's still a gift I wouldn't have had on Steam, so I'm still okay with it.

But what I am completely puzzled at, is the list of games I'm allowed to choose from.
I tried searching this website for some explanation as to how these Fair Price Packaging codes work, but it is remarkably silent about it.

Why can't I buy Planescape Torment, or Zeus+Poseidon, which both are just 5 bucks each?
Does it work on special offers? I suppose not, but where can I find this information? Help!

Your 12 dollars come in two codes for a game of 5,99$ (base price) each. That means it does not apply to discounted games. It's one of the two "standard GOG generic gift code", along with the 9,99 one. Since there is no store credit, until now there is no other way to give you back precisely what you paid in excess...

Edit: Since I see you joined recently, I must let you know that this is a remnant from GOG's past, were games were priced only 5,99$ or 9,99$.

You'll have to wait till the sale is over. You are right, it won't work on promotions.
Thanks guys,

I figured I had two 5.99 dollar codes.

I still don't understand why I am not able to use them on Planescape:Torment! It costs 4.99 and is not in any promotion as far as I can see... The same is true for some other games under 6 dollars.

The codes are valid for games with a base price of 5,99. The base price for Torment is 9,99.

Pretty much every game on GOG is currently on at least 50% off for the summer sale. You can identify games on discount by their price button where they're listed: it'll be orange, instead of grey. In the case of Planescape, its normal price is $9.99, and it's on discount to $5.99. As others have said, the fact that you can only get 2 $5.99 games (rather than a single $9.99 one) is an issue with legacy coding which hasn't been updated, mostly because it'll (hopefully) be replaced by a new system entirely in the somewhat-near future.

If you email support, it may be possible for them to manually switch the two free game codes for one code for PS:T. I don't know, but it might be worth a try.
Oh wow, how did I miss that?! Exams must be making me tired and blind!

Thanks for the patience and help guys, it's much appreciated :)

Wait a while. They announced that there will be store credits in the future (iirc sometime this year when they also offer the possibility to pay in different currencies than US-dollar). Once it's done they should be able to change your codes into store credits (at least I assume they could do it).

Yeah, they *probably* will, and since the codes expire in a year or so, I think it's better to wait. Personally, I used them on Original war (wich is being pulled on June 22th) and Arx fatalis (wich is NEVER discounted), since they were both on my whishlist! :)
