It was a space type RPG/TDS where you managed a team that gained experience through killing enemies, of course, but also by performing tasks related to their specialty like healing animals for the doctor. Graphic was simplistic, mostly like Starflight. Combat was not limited to space ships but you also got to board enemy ships and fight aboard. Your team was represented by simple colored dots that moved through corridors and rooms. In order to progress through the plot you had to visit and explore planets. One in particular I remember was an ice planet called Reyjavick like the capital of Iceland and that's where your doctor got the opportunity to heal injured animals when you managed to get the shuttle close enough. You eventually found the location in space of a "Battle Station" that you had to fight your way through (With of course your colored dots team) and find some critical objects. The ending came with a huge space battle. I would love to suggest this one to GOG but just can't remember it's title....

Yes! Thanks a lot Coelocanth! Gee... How old can you be... Certainly not a relic from the previous millenium like me ;)

Heh, actually I turn fifty in about two months.
That looks incredibly advanced for a C64 game. For some reason I'm reminded of Mars Saga, a.k.a. Mines of Titan, although that doesn't have quite as many features.
Apparently also had an improve semi-sequel / spiritual successor called Hard Nova:

Just as I thought, a young man... but a very well informed young man that is.

Yes indeed and it's even available as "abandonware" free download. However, I'm unable to get any sound out of it even by tweaking the DosBox configuration file and the game configuration file. I even tried to remove my PCIE soundcard and reverted to the integrated soundcard to no avail. That's why I wish both games would be available through GOG.

I finally figured it out. I can now play Hard Nova with all the sound and whistle! Let me know if anyone is interested.
