Prepare for a truly HOSTILE takeover
Welcome to the grim cyberpunk future of corporate wars and cybernetically enhanced soldiers. Both games from the cult classic Sci-Fi series-- and [url=http://www.gog.com/game/syndicate_wars]Syndicate Wars--are available for up to 70% off on GOG.com. That's as little as $3.58 for the hands-on experience of challenging tactical combat in a futuristic world without hope, regret, or morals, for the next 24 hours!

HEADS UP, EXECUTIVES!: This Friday, our version of Syndicate will be upgraded (free of additional charge, of course) with the sensational American Revolt mission pack!

The future, my friend, is corporate genocide. Fill the shoes of a "manager" for a global syndicate fearlessly pursuing ultimate profit. Your goal is to fight for territory and influence, using brainwashed supersoldiers--lethal puppets in the hands of a corporate mastermind like you--among the flood of civilian casualties. With each deftly executed mission--ranging from relatively simple extractions to multi-layered assassinations--bringing you closer to world domination and market monopoly, the means become easier to accept, collateral damage proving nothing more than a natural consequence of corporate friction. Gradually, with more cybernetic enhancements, overdrive-inducing drugs, and high-tech weaponry, your army of agents will become the foundation of new world order. Succeed, and you might just get promoted!

Syndicate series has been a stepping stone for the gaming industry: its morally challenging overtone imposed over a pessimistic, but extremely coherent vision of the world's future, set the stage for strategically demanding gameplay. The original , included in almost every "Best games in PC history" list, allowed you to become a ruthless enforcer in the world of miniguns and brain implants, treating your agents as chess pieces in a conscience-free game of life and death. [url=http://www.gog.com/game/syndicate_wars]Syndicate Wars was able to follow up with equally well-balanced difficulty level and immersive narrative, allowing you to fight for two distinctly different factions - the EuroCorp Syndicate or the Church of the New Epoch. If gruesome corporate warfare with real-time tactical combat is your thing you can't go wrong with those two celebrated classics!

Get the maximum available discount of 70% on the Syndicate series, grab both esteemed classics for just $3.58! As usual, any game you own counts towards the discount rate. The promo lasts until Tuesday, September 24, at 9:59AM GMT.
Am I still the only person in the world (or so it seems) that has the problem with Dungeon Keeper and Syndicate Wars of the mouse cursor flying across the screen to the border of the map and getting stuck? I've had to give up the DOS versions for KeeperFX and SWars Port because of that recurring issue.

lugum: Stingy is when you can afford stuff but you dont want to pay for it or not enough. You ever think there might be people that have to turn every cent and perhaps have to choose carefully on what they might buy or a kid wanting to buy something with his allowance?
IMHO , such people shouldn't play video games. This hobby was never cheap and not all can afford it...

nemesismartyn: Same question as htown1980 here. Is the sequel worth the 1,79$ ?

inc09nito: omg, You people serious with those questions? I spend more on a single beer or a bag of chips than this...
Same here... Usually the beer in a pub is at least $10 nowadays... And who drinks one and walks away... Anyway, all the games are cheap on gog.com (even $39 is not that extravagant at the end...), but sometimes it's better to have less games but finish them or spend some quality time than buying heaps for peanuts and not having time to play them at all.

Syndicate in 90s (I had Amiga back then, the game was actually better looking there than on the PC) was one of the best game I have ever played, it had great atmosphere and you could accomplish the missions in many different ways. However I never played Syndicate Wars so I can't honestly answer your question guys...

Rather spend $$ on games than alcohol (dont really drink...) :D
I haven't played Syndicate Wars in years and years, but to the best of my recollection, the gameplay is basically the same as the original, only in a much newer and more user-friendly engine.

So basically, if you liked the original Syndicate, then yes, chances are you will also like Syndicate Wars. Still, go watch a gameplay video of it before deciding. That should tell you all you need to know.
Collection completed. :D

Played the heck out of Syndicate back in the day but I missed out on wars so time to check it out!

IMO people can do whatever they want, it's their life. And for the record, it's a cheap hobby if you plan your purchases and don't rush for the latest during releases all the time without research or testing.

Now this likely have nothing to do with this thread but even if I was on the verge to buy it and with money not being an issue I would simply hesitate because I don't want boring or broken games on my GOG catalogue and I'm sure I can't be alone on this one.
Nice, i own all games from this promo.

My question was whether it was worth my time, not my money. The price isn't a big deal for me but I don't want to buy a game and have to waste time and effort adding it to my backlog, installing it, playing it, hating it, uninstalling it, removing it from my backlog, feeling sad about it, etc.

I could draw a sexist analogy between ordinary games and ordinary women but I will keep it to myself.
The graphics I think are a matter of preference. SW environments are low-res compared to Syndicate, but SW is 3D and the perception of real depth to the maps and buildings (along with a rotating camera, which had it's own problems) I think make it more immersive. SW weapons are more interesting if you like powerful sci-fi stuff compared to Syndicate's more "realistic" arsenal. Vehicles are way better and more interactive in SW, and really add to the sandbox feel of the maps. Music is way better in SW, I think the music and sound effects more than anything gave SW this dark futuristic feel to the game. Missions in SW are better than Syndicate's, Syndicate had repetitive go here-kill that almost every mission while SW's are different and interesting. The only thing in SW which I would say was is bad design is the lack of ammo, every gun in SW has unlimited ammo, bad bad bad.

Nice, insta-buy for Syndicate Wars !
Haven't played either... but for only 3.58? Even if I hate them, I'd say it is a win.
Thanks for the promo!

Can't say I've installed them recently to test I assume you don't get this phenomenon occurring on your windows / linux or mac desktop? When I was doing help desk support a few years back with laptops we would get that occasionally, sometimes you'd jigged the nipple (mouse controller in the middle of the keyboard) sometimes you'd have to get the keyboard module replaced.

I'm sure that isn't your problem, but just a thought.
