YMMV I'd say, I really enjoyed the RTS bits.

Well I hate RTS genre in general so it might be my problem :)

BTW I won't spoil it but this game really needs an award for the best usage of a song (Ozzy - Mr. Crowley), you'll know the scene I mean when you play :D

cosminm: Great, charming game, but it doesn't run very well on PC unless you have a good rig.

triock: I don't have a high-end PC and this game runs perfectly!
And it runs like garbage in mine. :(

langurmonkey: Would you recommend it for someone who is not into metal music?

grynn: This game is pure metal :D story, characters, environment and everything all heavy metal. So I don't think you'll have so much fun as I did when you saw/heard the legends such as Lemmy, Ozzy or Rob Halford (almost orgasmic lol). The gameplay is not so good imho, especially the RTS part sucks! So I'd pass this one if I weren't a Tim Schafer fan & a metal-junkie.

BTW there is no Iron Maiden song on OST, WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING?! And some early Metallica wouldn't hurt as well, guess they couldn't licence these two.
I like Ozzy so I might play the game just for him.

Hmm, are you playing on max settings? I should have specified that in my last post. The game will run ok on older machines, but if you max the graphics settings it will stagger. At least that's how it behaves on my PC.

Yep, everything on max. :p

Well max settings are usually for high-end computers, so...

Initially they wanted to feature Maiden songs too, but at some point the band pulled out because of the name "Eddie" for the character. At least that's what I've read somewhere. Derrick Riggs is the creator of Maiden's mascot, so the reference isn't accidental.

Still a nice game, and I just love the atmosphere and the tracks are still amazing. Also the voice acting with Jack Black, Ozzy, Lemmy, Rob etc. is one of the best in any video game and matches the atmosphere perfectly.

I'll just say that someone who isn't into metal wouldn't get nearly as much out of the game. The main story itself is quite short if you just power through it, while a lot of the rest of the game involves exploring the world with a metal soundtrack blaring. As someone whose entire music collection consists of metal I thoroughly enjoyed this; if you don't particularly care for metal your experience would probably be a bit different. Also, as others have mentioned, the theme, characters, world, etc are metal through and through, so there are a lot of references you'd probably not get that may make the game less enjoyable. That said, it depends in part on whether you just haven't been exposed to much metal (in which case I'd say give it a try- you might like the game and gain an appreciation for metal in the process), or whether you've been exposed to metal and just don't care for it (in which case you should probably stay away from the game).

Fenixp: Depends, do you hate metal, as in you can't listen to it, or do you just not mind it? If it's the latter, you'll most likely enjoy the game if you like DF production.
I don't hate metal. I'm just not a metal head.
