This move just reeks of desperation. Auto-80 char. on offer, plus all the expansions? Incredible how worried they are. What does everyone think?

I really don't see this move bringing a whole lot of people back, despite the huge amount of stuff on offer. I think WOW will still stick around for a while, but with a smaller player-base than now (which will still remain, somewhere around 6-8 mil., a huge game).
I wish WoW would hurry up and die.

It would open up other MMO's to more players and perhaps those MMO's would in turn improve, also developers might be more inclined to create new MMO's.

Having said that if Blizzard were THAT desperate it would be FtP with micro transactions.
Blizzard did many, many things over these years to kill WoW for hardcore players and PVP players

It will be interesting to see what steps they will take to bring these people back and what changes will be made in the game

Afterall, it wants to get as much money from it as possible until their new TITAN MMO will be released

Nice incentives. This ought to bring some players back.
Just seems like a sign of an aging MMO.

WoW has already gone above and beyond anything people could've imagined, the fact that it's still around with as many people as are playing it is astonishing in itself. Heck, I remember back before it came out jesting about the sheer possibility of a MMO having one million subscribers, it was simply unimaginable at the time, especially with the slow death that the genre seemed to be undergoing with failed releases like Shadowbane.

I look forward and hope they can rival what they did with WoW with their upcoming MMO.
The auto level 80 is a tad troubing, but I understand it.
If the scroll can be used for my country (many things can't) then I'll have my wife cast one on my account. I stopped playing right on Cataclysm release, so I don't mind the upgrade even if I don't plan to play again seriously.
Anybody wants to 'buy' himself that mount? :)

That type of activity is illegal in much of the USA. Oh, wait, we're talking about a game? Nevermind.

Regarding OP, it might entice a few back though probably not as many as they are hoping for.
I'm definitely going to go for it. The only reason I haven't dipped back into WoW from time to time was because I didn't want to pay $50 for Cataclysm just to dick around for a month and stop again.
I think it will end up being a very good move on their part.
Im surprised it lasted this long to be honest. I got to level 8 char then gave up.Too damn boring.Grind grind. Wasnt there article the WOW arm cut about 600+ jobs or something due to falling subscriber numbers? (what game are they all going to i wonder?).

It could be. But they also automated quite a few systems, so they don't really need customer support employees to help gamers with their homework or whatever (yes, that was happening too).

Some people say that this promotion is a bad thing, because it gives people free level 80 characters. Well, I think is a good thing, because it will bring some people back.

And regardless of the free character, think about it, if you start at level 80, you've missed 4 continents of content, so those people aren't at advantage more than the regular players.

Well, you send me a scroll of resurrection, and you also buy one month subscription gamer card, and send me the code for it.

When I accept the SoR, and activate the gamer card, you get the mount. Pretty simple, eh? What can be so illegal about this?

(dunno if you were joking :))

Sorry, I was joking about "purchasing a mount." It was a failed attempt by a very tired csmith. :)
