But there is the spiritual question, can one have too many of some kind of game they like?

etna87: Anyway, my actual reason for posting: Anyone else getting the bug like in the first attached picture? The last post on the page moved below the "new post" tab. Maybe it is somehow connected to Necdilzor's post with the different text size, the posts are not nicely aligned there.
Sorry for being mostly offtopic. If it's not just me, I will write to support or something.
You are not the only one. I've got that, too.

nope, not at all but, you can exceed the quota for viable stick-shaking.

Me too.
I've just restarted Unepic (my old character was unusable shortly before the end in just one particular screen)
and have to say, that the last updates really optimized it and it plays very well with gamepad now.
Still one of my favourites.
I would say the only metroidvania type game here on gog would be La-Mulana.
I wouldn't recommend Guacamelee to a Metroid series fan. As it is more of a brawling... minimal platforuming game.

I really wish Shadow Complex would leave the xbox 360 live service :( :( :(

And I'm sure you all ready played Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on playstation. (the ps1 disk works on all ps2/ps3/ps4 :P)

On steam:
Cave Story

On steam, but not neccesarrily metroidvania:
Aquaria, (minus the platforming).
Aztaka, I guess :P.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet. (not personally tried yet, but looks decent).
Hmmm Fez sorta qualifies...

Although not on GoG i'll always recommend Symphony of the night...
Not on GOG, but..

The Sun at Night, surely.

Magicians & Looters, llikely.

Unfortunately it seems that none of these games involve gaining new abilities which unlock new pathways (ie double jump lets you access areas previously too high to access, lava suit allows you to access pathways previously inaccessible because they were submerged in lava and spelled instant death before the suit, etc.). This is a fundamental element of the metroidvania genre. Simply having non-linear levels is just nonlinear level design--it's not what makes a metroidvania a metroidvania. It might be similar, but if you play true metroidvanias, it is very, very apparent it's not the same. For example, the GTA series is nonlinear. Does that mean it's classifies as a metroidvania? I think most people would laugh if someone tried to label it as such.
