Not sure why this hasn't got a blue post yet but

Xenonauts 2 demo available now via GoG, and only GoG

http://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-play-an-early-demo-of-xenonauts-2-now/
Not "now", has been availible for a while.

And only via GoG... Galaxy, isn't it?

You'll need GOG's Galaxy client to play the (currently one mission) demo
I wish I wasn't too lazy to keep an updated thread of all the GOG games that require the optional client. Just toss this one onto the pile.

Not only to play it, but to access and download it too. Also:
[...] it'll be deleted when Goldhawk launches the paid alpha, so you won't be getting access to the final game.
Unsurprisingly, the demo doesn't show up in GOG's game catalogue.
I'm not able to find any Xenonauts 2 demo on GOG at all, neither on the website nor within Galaxy. If it exists on GOG at all, they've obviously goofed up somewhere and someone should report the problem to support and possibly track it in the "What did just break?" thread though if they have the details to provide.

It's here... pretty sure it's not a mistake, it was just kept low key by the dev. Perhaps this may be something related some back-end changes on GOG, I'm wondering if GOG actually added it themselves or if maybe some automation is taking place here (added by the dev maybe). Maybe this is an early test case? Doesn't fit the usual GOGness if you will (this type of thing is usually announced and more detailed by GOG). It's interesting to say the least.

Yeah, it's an oddity for sure. I'm sticking to the "never attribute to malice what can be explained by goofups" explanation for now until I hear back from GOG about it though. :)

I've confirmed that the game neither shows up in the GOG catalogue through the website nor through Galaxy unless you click on the PC gamer link or elsewhere that directly links to the page. I've also confirmed that once added to your account, it is not available for download on the website, and that the GOG Downloader link leads to a 404 page. Regardless of the intention, that definitely is a website bug as nothing should ever point to a 404 page on purpose. :oP

I can also confirm that within Galaxy there are no downloadable links for this game and that it is only installable via "Install" within Galaxy.

I went ahead and filed a friendly support query to GOG support for this to let them know about the problems discovered and linked to this thread in my query as well. It's the weekend and this is a rather low priority issue so I'm not expecting a response until Monday at the earliest. I have a feeling that this is a new aspect to this in some way that there are just bugs in the website etc. that they need to feed some pizza to their devs to get it sorted out though. :oP

When they get back to me I'll post an update here to summarize what I hear from them.

Please give the build a test and see if you can find any issues with it - if there's nothing game-breaking in the build we will start openly promoting the game on Friday!
(Emphasis mine)
This would seem to indicate that they wanted to keep it very low-profile for a while, limiting knowledge of the pre-alpha demo mainly to the fans who follow their site. (This would also be why that PC Gamer post only went up today, despite the fact that the demo's apparently been here since last October.)
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a front page news item here next week, now that Goldhawk has begun promoting it beyond their community; then again, I wouldn't be that surprised if they wait a little longer, too.
