Did you know GOG is hosting an early public build of Xenonauts 2? That's right, those sneaky buggers didn't even tell us about that. For now, it's Windows-only and it requires GOG Galaxy.

I was reading a PC Gamer article for their choice of best strategy game of 2016, which they gave to XCOM 2, and I was skimming through the comments. Someone mentioned Xenonauts 2, and I started to wonder what was going on with that since there's been not a whole lot of public info; or so I thought until I checked out their forum. Looks like they're still happily plugging away at developing their sequel, and they have started offering free early public test builds (with limited functionality) as of about two months ago. Curiously, GOG seems to be the only place from where one can acquire said builds.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but I'm planning to do so later today. Just wanted to give you folks a heads-up. ;)

Also: This is their latest development update.

Thanks for informing us :)

I tried the combat demo. The conversion to 3D graphics looks good. But this early version makes it look too much Xenonauts-just-in-3D thing. Even the aliens look the same.
It'd be better if they tried a different approach/different game style. Or if they improved the strategic options in the world map.

If they're just trying to make another XCOM clone in true 3D, we already have plenty of those :P Unless they're considering giving more detailed and complex strategic options in the World map.
Let's give them time.
