GameRager: Serious question: Then why even ask the question if you knew you might not like the answers you got? :|

Cavalary: Probably shouldn't answer for another, but seemed to me that Tauto was wary of SSDs and was wondering whether he'll be convinced otherwise, yet there were some posts here that confirmed the concerns and it wasn't a question of the benefits outweighing them, so as long as he wasn't convinced that there was really no risk of what he was worried about, that was that.
I can see that being the case...I sometimes ask questions I have my mind made up on irl/online as well.

KingofGnG: "Are you heterosexual?"
"Hell yeah!"
"You want some p*ssy?"

"Yuck, absolutely not!!!"

That's how this "SSD or HDD" question sounds to me :-D
That argument fails if it's a girl you're talking to. (Or a non-binary person, for that matter.)

GameRager: With densities being higher on newer HDDs, it takes less movement of the armature/arm to get to the desired data....meaning a "slower" 5400 RPM disc with a higher density than a comparable 7200 RPM drive with lower data density will perform better/faster at reading and finding that data.
One other question: Does the density affect power consumption?

I am not sure, but I am guessing that if the data isn't fragmented the power usage might be a bit less...don't quote me on that, though.

I'd like to see some data on that, both synthetic and real world. Perhaps I've forgotten something...

But, after thinking about it, as we move more and more away from spinn disks, it does become irrelevant altogether.

I believe it fails for most men too.

Even without armature movement, higher density gives faster sequential access speed. Also, speeds are faster near the edge of the platter since the number of bits per rotation is higher there.

And then getting angry as people are mostly of different view than you?

It's one thing to stuck with your opinion, it's another thing to go all I don't give a f.

He asked, got the answers, and if he still wants to go with his original choice then that's his life. No need to get upset about it.

Shows how uncertain he is about the choices.

Yes,I did but don't remember asking for advice from (Google searchers looking for a bit of fame) or smart arse knockers. I thank the genuine helpers and appreciate their advise.

In the past I wouldn't, however with how poor the quality of HDDs has gotten, I might well get an SSD for some uses.

Unfortunately, they're not suitable for ZFS, which is my preferred filesystem. That's literally the only reason I still use HDDs at this time other than price/capacity.

But, for OSes that don't have ZFS, it's fairly clear that the SDDs aren't going to be any less dependable at this time.

Dunno where you are getting this from. You were genuinely adviced on whether you should get the ssd or not. Was supported with hard data and as well as personal opinions.

Don't get angry when you hear what you don't expect. It's good idea to use it to revaluate your opinion.

You also didn't answer my query on how your new system is fairing? Not just hdd but in whole?

Building your pc is scary for me so always curious on how other people manage it

It surprisingly plug and play, as easy as putting together an Ikea coffee table honestly.

Took me half a very stressful day to build mine. First time doing it from scratch.
Was so satisfying tough when it turned on.
