My wife discovered Words With Friends and really likes it. Trouble is, she challenged me and I keep beating her, badly, over and over. Should I let her win? I thought that was what you do when you play against a wookie, but maybe a wife too...?
Depends on if she reads the GOG forum.
You should watch the Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon plays "Words with friends" with Stephen Hawking. After that you should know what to do ... or not. :)
Ah yes, the delicate pendulum that swings between humiliating your spouse at (Sports, Games, "I Told You So," etc) and never, ever having sex again.

It's all well and good until someone decides spousal smugness is grounds for divorce.

There can be only one!
You need to play 'real' scrabble.

I am a good player too but that means squat when the tiles are in the mood to screw with you which they seem to do more easily in 'real' scrabble.

Here are the rules for real scrabble....

1) if you keep 2 or more i's it is compulsory to pick up another one.

2) if you suddenly start picking up allot of u's.... you know your opponent has the q!

3) When you start looking at your tiles you picked up,, you just seem to instinctively know it has decided to go for no vowels even before you have finished looking at them all.

4) 'real' scrabble tiles are not inanimate objects, they are malicious little basteds that really enjoy messing with you!
Don't do it. She'll eventually catch on to the fact you're letting her win by seeing you constantly drop 3-letter words instead of the obvious 5 or 6 combo, and will start chiding you for it.
My advice is you find her a new game. Quickly. Learn about it, and if it's something you'll know you'll be good at, either don't download it or make up constant excuses as to why you can't play. If you need an excuse, one of us can gift you DIvine Divinity or Blackguards.
"Gee, y'know honey, I just reaaaaaally wanna finish this game...I'm so close to the end...why don't you try asking your friends while you wait?"
With enough luck, she'll eventually lose interest, and you'll be off the hook for a while.
Repeat as necessary.
Some people doesn´t take it kindly being let to win as if they couldn´t do it by their own (even if it might be true :P).

Everyone has different talents, so it's okay if you just keep winning. If she doesn't like it - has she said anything of that kind yet? - say that she's great at other things. Have you played other games of any kind where she's the one constantly winning?

And like others said, many people dislike being let to win, so it's better to play the game fair. Many people like to try to win and see if they can improve before finally either giving up, playing with different people or managing to win and or improve.

Some people can't handle losing, but that's because they either lack the self-confidence and try to make up for it by winning the game/contest or are too much needy/vain/conceited so they are personally offended that they are not better than the other person/others at the game.

Awwww, you had to go and give him a legitimate, serious, thoughtful answer? You disappoint us all.
