sunshinecorp: What ads are you people talking about? Is that specific to the game or do you mean the gold subscription? I'm a long time Xbox 360 owner and have never been nagged by ads.
There's always ads on the Home page, down on the bottom-right hand side of the Landing Window, even for users who pay the subscription >.<

sunshinecorp: Maybe it's regional, but I've never gotten such ads, either when I was on gold subscription or now that I'm not.
Dunno - I've experienced them in Germany, Ireland and Poland (my 360 is very well-travelled :P).
