dtgreene: I thought of another one: Final Fantasy 2. (Not the SNES one; that's really FF4, and it got a thorough remake on the Nintendo DS anyway.)
227: Didn't it already get remade for the GBA? Or did that not fix the balance issues? Either way, after they recently released the PC version of Lightning Returns with always-online DRM, I don't think Square-Enix should be allowed or encouraged to touch anything they've already released ever again.
The GBA version fixed some issues, but the mechanics are still basically the same with some tweaks; I am thinking of a complete re-do of the game mechanics here.
Also, one issue that wasn't fixed was heavy armor, which is worse than useless. It cripples your evade, causing you to take more damage among other problems (like always going last, being constantly ambushed, and not being able to run away), and also cripples your spellcasting (a hidden mechanic that should not have been hidden).
I also don't like the removal of the first Blood Sword, as it was the one interesting thing found in a rather dull part of the game. (Also, the one remaining Blood Sword is easy to permanently miss, which feels like sloppy game design to me.)
