Leroux: Really? That's sound rather far-fetched to me as an explanation pertaining to more than just one or two single individuals, but then again, what do I know ...
Well, I won't pretend I know for sure that's the reason, but...check out the past games.
I can almost guarantee you, the games that show long pauses of no participation, pretty often can simply be picture-searched.

Leroux: Personally I think the game is more fun as something fast paced, not something the current poster has to keep on their mind for days, always checking for replies, even a week later. In any case, if noone posts anything, it just looks like there's a general disinterest in solving the puzzle or participating in the game.
Right now there is the https://www.gog.com/forum/general/guess_the_game_text_edition thread
The hint giver - though online on a daily base - hasn't given any hint of his own for a full week now.
Would you say he is truly interested in actually playing the game he partook?

Then we have the https://www.gog.com/forum/general/what_is_this_movie thread, wherein one "participant" gave the solution to two riddles, yet in both cases passed his turn on to whoever wants it.
Would you say that person is truly interested in playing the game?
Or is that person more interested in bragging about their knowlegde, but otherwise "dosn't want to make their hands dirty when playing with the peasants"?

avatar
Leroux: Dunno, maybe it would help to establish some rules like when to post more hints and when to reveal the solution, so that even if the game stalls, its continuation is ensured? Just a suggestion.
Again, all it really takes is a hint giver who is willing to give some new hint(s) at least every 24 hours. Which for most should pose no problem, since they're here each day, anyway.
And if you really should run out of hints after a week?
Well, then give the solution (practically) away...with a really easy final hint (or - as a last resort - by giving away the actual solution)...but at least pretend you're interested in playing the game you're in.
Don't just throw a bone to the dogs and then forget about it...

My two cents.

BreOl72: My two cents.
Well, all of that to me sounds like it is a good idea to impose more specific rules on the games and for participants to communicate better among each other.

Anyway, sorry for derailing the thread, unfortunately I do not have a clue what the currently searched for game could be. :(

#1 Probably not.

#2 I was curious, i don't need bragging rights, i picture searched, but honestly considering how far out there the second one was, i answered it. I prefer someone else who wants to have a go, but can't because of the previous one still remaining unanswered.

I have done something similar myself, but mine was a competition for a game, and i made a youtube video of different game music, and they had to figure out which games the music was from.

Considering they were all popular titles at somepoint, nobody got it. So i gave the game away to the closest winner.

I have viewed these forum "games" and most of them are junk, as people will pick the most niche movie or game, that only a few users will get, which could be days or weeks before they show up, that isn't fun, thats just being a dick, all for the sake of... nothing. If it was a competition i could say sure let it be tough, but as a forum game? it's like "lets choose a random background for people to guess on!"

Personally if nobody gets it within a few days they should just give the answer and give someone else a chance.

Guess this movie! you'll get NOTHING for it.

HanselPete: You seem to know, what it is. Why you dont tell us?
BTW the reason I didn't post an official "guess" myself is that I only found the answer by cheating.
