DetouR6734: Theme Hospital - Try Two Point Hospital instead, it pretty much covers every aspect and adds more of it's own.

Theme Park - Much like the above, try Planet Coaster, it covers most of the original and adds alot of it's own.

Those are the only two games i can think of right now, i'm quite picky and most of the time when remakes are made, they skip bits of it, which were parts of a whole and was why the original was so good... instead you end up with a Terminator 3 because rather than stick to the original formula, they wanted to appeal to the masses.
Neither of those are quite what I'd call directly in the spirit of the thread, but they're interesting suggestions nonetheless.

Though, why not the Theme Hospital source port, or in the case of theme park, the more logistics focused Parkitect?

ShadowAngel.207: A good example is the current wave of "HD" remakes of Apogee games. Secret Agent, Monster Bash, Crystal Caves and soon Cosmo. More fluid controls, higher framerate, map editor & custom maps galore. The old Dos versions mostly really suffer from the low framerates (Cosmo is just unplayable, back in the day the low framerate wasn't as noticeable, since most games ran with 15-25fps but when you're used to 60-144 going back to that is horrible)
Aside from the obvious problem with the naming, the "HD" versions also display the games at the wrong aspect ratio with no option for correcting it. There really is no excuse for that.

It's basically from what i've played and more my own experiences, though i wasn't into Theme Hospital as i was Theme Park back in the day, both Planet Coaster & TPH did have the same vibes as those classics, to the point i'd probably never bother to playTheme Park nor Theme Hospital again, as i feel those two take the mantle quite nicely.
I'm thinking that Wizardry 1 might qualify, assuming you're aiming for a glitch-free playthrough. There are numerous issues with the Apple 2 version of the game. For example:
* To add a character to the party, you need to enter the character's name, and you have to do that without the roster being displayed.
* When casting spells, you have to type the name, and the game doesn't show you how many casts you have left on the screen. (In fact, I don't think there's any way to check during combat.)
* Spells can be cast during the surprise round. While this might sound nice, it also applies to enemies, so you could be quite easily ambushed and have characters killed by enemy spells before you even get to enter a command (and this is in a game where resurrection is unreliable and has consequences, and with a permadeath-style save system.)
* Many of the spells just aren't that good. LATUMAPIC only identifies the enemies in the current encounter, and HAMAN and MAHAMAN don't give you any choice (and only some of the coded effects are actually possible).
* When having a Bishop identify an item, pressing something other than a digit in the 1-8 range can result in strange things happening, which is not good if you're trying to avoid glitches. In particular, it's actually possible to corrupt a character's password, which will make it impossible to add that character to the party. (On the other hand, if you're doing a glitch playthrough, then this is the glitch you'll want to exploit; identifying item 9 will give you enough XP to advance to over level 200 (not a typo), though actually gaining those levels will take a while.)

The DOS version should also be avoided, as stats drop more often at level up than in other versions; I've heard of young characters dying of old age.
