This was that game that GOG gave away free not to long ago. It's still in my library on the website. It's also still available on the website.

However the database nonsense caused me to uninstall Galaxy then reinstall, I find that this game no longer exists in Galaxy as a GOG game. You can add the game manually to your library. I had a few other errors with my library once I was able to get Galaxy working, but this was the only case in my library of a GOG game that no longer exists as a GOG game.

It makes me wonder if this was the cause of the "Failed to load game database" error.

Ya seems definitely an issue with you having to rebuild the GOG galaxy database.
For me the Galaxy Update worked without issues and i just checked Wanderlust Transsiberian still appears as an owned game in my library.
