Price drop, fixes and free DLC!

Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms, a heavy hack'n'slash action RPG with a two-sided twist, just received a price-drop, free DLC for everyone who owns the game, and a few tweaks and updates! To make the deal sweeter, the game is also 50% off for the next week!

Take control of the Devourer, a demon that swallows the souls of the dead and brings them back into the mortal realm as puppets. But is the demon their master – or their servant? Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is the first part of a sequel to the classic Kult: Heretic Kingdoms (also known as Heretic Kingdoms: Inquisition), it's a tale of a world and its shadows - both of which you will walk with grace to overcome anything in your path, but beware that each world presents it's own dangers and challenges.

On top of the permanent price-drop, the game is now updated with plenty of tweaks and bug fixes and a French language version. For even more gameplay, originally-exclusive DLC is now free for everyone! The DLC includes three new quests: Tholean Tablet, The Owl Amulet and The Scorpion King.

If you're eagerly awaiting Book 2 of the story, the devs are preparing an impressive technological update to the game which will allow them to execute every bit of new content and gameplay planned into the sequel, no cutting corners. They should have more news on the update and progress on Book 2 production later in the year.

Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms is now available better and cheaper than ever, DRM-free on GOG.com. The promo will last one week, until Friday, September 4, 10:59 AM GMT.

JudasIscariot: I am not sure we'll get it out today but I am hoping we can have it out by Monday or Tuesday at the latest but I am not 100% sure on that as of right now :)

Luned: I realize it's getting late in the workday on Friday in Warsaw. Thanks for letting us know something's on the way for the first HK, though.
Does your laptop have Win XP 32-bit in it?
avatar
Pajama: Doesn't seem to be for me although it was earlier - it was regionally priced at £22.99 ($35.59). Now it is priced at £6.49 ($9.99) with no store credit and says I save 50%! I have no idea how GOG works sometimes....
avatar
HypersomniacLive: It's $22.79 (full price), and, as moonshineshadow said, $11.39 with the 50% discount which gives a $1.40 store credit.
Might be worth nabbing Judas to see if he can shed some light on this. The game has always been regionally priced for me which was why I never purchased it but now it is flat priced. GOG gremlins maybe?

No, I'm having the screen artifacts issue mentioned here: https://www.gog.com/forum/heretic_kingdoms_series/screen_artifacts.

Like DuchessofKvetch's post from June, it's still happening, and forcing it to use the nVidia card didn't solve it (Win 8.1). Rolling drivers back is not an option for me due to conflicts with other programs.

Zoidberg: A price drop? Yeah, but a regionnal one at that... was it before?
avatar
PaterAlf: Unfortunately this game has always been regionally priced. :(
OK, thanks for the info...

MrFortyFive: I was interested in this game when it came out but had forgotten all about it and had no idea of the legal issues the devs were contending with. The game looks great, and while I had no intention of buying any more games this week, I got this one to support a developer who clearly cares about making their product as good as it can be. Hope to dig into it soon.
Then dig! This game is so, uh, succulent :P

Unfortunately, I had to stop too due to a game breaking bug. Actually my ONLY gog game, to date, to give me "headaches" on both my laptops, windows 8.1, nvidia/amd gpus. They're all windows 10 now and the recent steam version of Kult (which I accidentally purchased for myself but I won't ask for refunds since devs are pretty nice and honest folks) runs with no hassles at all, so the gog future update should be fine under these two OSs :)

edit: didn't contact support at the time since this stop had to be made due to personal circumstances/I erased my Kult save and couldn't get it back, so it was a lose/lose situation :P

paladin181: [...] GoG and its partners are really putting together a memorable summer for this place. They strained my wallet big time and didn't even do a summer sale yet.

Did you sleep through the entire month of June?!

Maybe... Or maybe June was an easy miss because I had all the games I wanted or at least nothing appealed to me at the time. Still doesn't really matter... Been a great Summer for GoG no matter how you slice it.

Don't feel too bad -- I was around for the entire sale, checked in at least once a day (on average, at least), and still didn't buy anything. [shrug]
And you'll get no argument from me about it being a great summer for GOG -- though I would go so far as to say it's been a phenomenal YEAR for them, especially in terms of releases!

No need, see here, apparently it's the devs decision. Let's hope it stays flat priced for you.

That is a bummer :( I really don't understand how this works, why suddenly they decided the UK is now flat priced but you're not. I actually bought it in case they change their mind and put it back into the regionally priced section.
This is truly one of the most enjoyable RPGs in years.

A very wise move, my friend.
I want to give the devs a hug. Good news, indeed.

So you've played it already? I've read a lot of good things about presentation and writing, but pretty bad things about (supposedly slow and bland) combat and performance, and I'm not sure whether I'd like it or not, as I've enjoyed quite a few games with combat that was rather primitive and even stories that weren't the greatest (e.g. Deck13's Venetica and Blood Knights), because they had cool atmosphere and settings, but I also get bored by too much trash mob hacking and slashing (I've started a lot of Diablo-type games and finished only very few of them). If you've played it, can you explain why you like it?

Yes I've played it on release. I enjoyed it thanks to its atmosphere, funny writing and most of all original systems - switching between devourer in one world and other characters in other world and the whole concept feels original. But I'm not going to lie to you, the combat even though it's pretty good (switching between characters and using different skills during combat) can sometimes be hard and tedious. But overall I've really enjoyed it and this game should not be overlooked. Everyone who enjoys action RPGs should give it a shot.
