For some reason this game was in my Steam wishlist and when i saw it is 75% discount and only 10 minutes remaining i instantly bought it. (It was 5 $ anyways). However, I am watching letsplays while downloading (25 minute remaining) and i have no idea why i wishlisted that game.

So Question, can anybody give me tips how to play this game? Is it like Master of Orion? Should I focus on something?

Note: I never used Steam forums so I am asking it here where it is sunny and shiny.

Here's a good tutorial.
Game isn't tough to learn, some say :)

Thank you. I am watching it right now. Also played the ingame tutorials. So far it looks like Starcraft game with some planet background.
Good game yet there is no single player campaign. There are various maps and you fight in them.
Yes, it only has skirmish maps. Economy is very important. Basically upgrading your planets, asteroids. Upgrading logistics slots so that you can build more research labs (military/logistical) so you open up more research levels. Be vary of pirates and if you see AI bidding against you in the pirate market then outbid them and send the pirate assault wave away. They can be very annoying in the beginning of the game if you are not careful.
There is a beginner guide here

It would be easier to start out with TEC fraction. And you can set AI as allies to help you.

TEC have a Corsev-class capital ship that lets you capture enemy ship for a time and make things much easier for your early gameplay.

TEC have more economic advantage so it would be good for beginners as they can afford to lose more ships.

Like Warcraft 3 heroes is the soul of your army, capital ships and Titan are the soul of your army.

There is an comprehensive guide on which units is strong or weak against which units

But to make it easier, carries (Like star craft carriers) can produce fighters to counter light armor ships and bombers to counter heavy armor ships and capital ship.

If your enemy have lots of cheap units, use fighters, expensive units, bombers, and the switch from fighter / bomber is free, just you need time.

To counter carriers fighter, other than capital ships ability, you have flak ship. Flak ship is good against fighter / bombers only.

You need Colonizing ship or Akkan capital to capture new planets.

You may want to pick the loyalist TEC because this fraction can build 2 starbase and make it easy to defend your planets.

Shiny screenshots used to be enough. :P

You can also refund it if you really didn't want it. I also have to learn how to play it. Space strategies are hard. :S
Thank you guys. I liked the game so far tho it is not easy even in easiest settings (or i am that bad). It is very easy to learn if you have played starcraft or command and conquare games. Just develop, make tech to do better units. Be carefull about your economy. Watch for pirate attacks, they can be nasty. Thats all. I am yet to test the diplomacy tho. It looks fun tho i started the game with -10 friendship. AI hated me to the bones.

I will go back to Neverwinter Nights. I have to finish this game this year.

You have research to improve AI relationship. And if your attack the enemy of an AI, your relationship will improve. Or your can gift gifts to them. You can do missions for them to improve the relationship even more. After you make peace with them, you can send envoy to improve the relationship so much that you can be ally.

And if you ally with AI, you can have tech exchange that give very powerful bonus. Like extra 150 fleet supply and 15% less income drained from your army cap.

After I had starbase, I like pirates attack because it will be free exp.
