wizisi2k: Kerbal Space Program 1.1 update hit a little while ago on Steam and the store. GOG should be soon- 2 hrs ago dev's said: "The update is now available on the KSP Store, Steam and will soon be available on GOG and other third party resellers." Hint as to changelog: x64 windows and unity 5 engine.
Cool! Can't wait to build exploding rockets in 64bit. Also, Unity 5 should give a nice performance boost, so I can build rockets that fail even more spectacularly :-)

I don't know Russian, but I find it weird that "Star Wolves 3" has a "2" in the Russian title.
Perhaps it's some form of regional titling.
It's the Russian equivalent of Panzer General?

I just saw in the wikipedia page of the game what seems to be the answer you're looking for :
"[...] A sequel, Star Wolves 2, was published in Russia in 2006 and in North America in 2007. Star Wolves 2: Civil War is the latest game in the series (in EU and NA regions it is known as Star Wolves 3: Civil War)."
So yes, regional titling it seems :)

Numbering shenanigans are nothing new really. I vividly remember the days when for marketing reasons C&C: Red Alert was marketed as C&C 2 in German speaking countries. That wasn't so bad as long as there were only these two games but it got confusing once C&C 2: Tiberian Sun (which became C&C 3 in Germany) and C&C: Red Alert 2 hit the streets and once C&C 3 was out nobody would know how to correctly number the C&C series any more.

Cheers.

Makes sense, in some way. They pay less for the game, so it makes sense that they get a smaller-numbered title. I guess the next thing we'll hear is that in Russia, the Commandos series takes place during World War I, not World War II.

Ahah XD I see... (this kind of things may be soooo complicated)
That remember me something I read concerning the first Final Fantasy games who came in the USA. If I remember well, it was FFIV (original title in Japan) who was called FFII at release in the USA, and after that it was FFVI who was renamed FFIII for US release. Because they didn't had all games released in USA if I'm not mistaken (and didn't wanted to have "gaps" in a saga it seems)... Really confusing when you're in Europe XD

But.... Red Alert labelled as C&C2 ? Why ? Censorship ? Marketing ?

I did not even know (until now) that Red Alert was not part 2 and Tiberian Sun was not part 3 - but than again I never really cared much about C&C. However still very interesting to know.

Just a guess: maybe C&C: Red Allert sounded too much like a DLC? I am pretty sure that they had simple marketing reasons for the renaming.

Simply marketing, as far as I know. Censorship is a whole different can of worms. The German versions were indeed censored, IIRC. The soldiers became androids which 'bleed' black oil and don't scream when you run them over. I bought the US versions back in the day.

That sounds really plausible.

You mean... In Germany, Red Alert had... cyborgs ? Oh my...
Cyborgs, zombies and mutants seems to have particularly hard times in Germany XD

The German publisher either did not know or simply did not care that Red Alert was basically its own series. A spinoff with a new storyline. Marketing it as successor to a successful game seem to be the right thing for them to do and later got them into trouble once the real successors started showing up.

The first few games were actually really good. But the more the series progressed the more the programmers seemed to care about flashy graphics and less about gameplay. By the time C&C Generals was out I though the series had become somewhat boring.

The first few games were also released as freeware for a while on their anniversaries.

Not only Red Alert. This is true for Command & Conquer (aka Tiberian Dawn), Red Alert, Tiberian Sun and the re-release of Generals.
