Heads up Gogers

The Playism storefront - which focuses on Japanese releases - will be shutting down on March 24, 2021, with purchase history also expiring on May 10, 2021. It's important to note that this is just the storefront, and that they will still be distributing games and content through Steam and consoles such as the Nintendo Switch. Check out the full announcement below:

As of 13:00 on March 24th, 2021 (Wed.), features allowing for the purchase of games and content such as OSTs, etc. (“PLAYISM Store Functions”) on the PLAYISM official website will be terminated.

Additionally, the PLAYISM official website is scheduled to begin large-scale renovations from 13:00 on May 10th, 2021 (Mon.), from which time both the PLAYISM Store and the My Page feature (Registered Member Services) are scheduled to be terminated.

With the termination of the My Page feature, redownloading of previously purchased content and reacquisition of Steam keys will no longer be possible, so please be sure to properly make any necessary purchases and save any purchased content/post-purchase data/etc. as required before the above-listed dates.

On the bright side at least, if you have any "customer support inquiries" Playism will still be helping out their customers until May 17, 2021. If you want to contact them now or until May 17, be sure to use this contact form to get your questions answered.

Playism will also be updating their article for with a Q&A section and any schedule changes, so be sure to keep monitoring this page if you are interested to see what exactly will be going down as the shutdown date looms. Its a shame. I did a little browsing and looks like it has a few exclusives - with quite good reviews. Hopefully they'll bring their games to Steam or GOG.

Yeah it would be nice to see Playism games on GOG. Searching Playism here turns up some results but maybe that's a different Playism (what would be the odds?! :-0) or the most significant Playism games aren't here yet.

But what if he wants all his games in one place on Steam? :-0

Not AS MUCH of a loss, really. There seemed to be VERY few games, and the new releases didn't get updated almost at all. That said, I had a few games on there, and much like Desura, that's going to be hard to keep track of. Had a HDD fail a few years back and lost all my (admittedly meager) Desura library. Funny enough, I think what's saved GOG is that they're not as limited. Bringing in bigger games and getting the mainstream support has helped them dodge the fate that has befallen Desura and now Playism.

True GOG has better support & i think having big publishers on board is why they are doing well. I posted this as a heads up for anyone who's got games on there.
You did well. Thankfully I have my games backed up, and now that I have an external backup (I used an internal before), I shouldn't have any "accidents" trying to keep things in order. Still, I think GOG should really reach out, try to get the Playism catalog here.
Just a heads-up, this is the last week left to download purchases from Playism, downloads will no longer be available as of May 19, 13:00 JST.
I got their email reminders as well.

You know what really boils my piss? This little paragraph:

"From the same day and time, the entire PLAYISM Official Website will undergo large-scale renovations. We are extremely excited to share our new website with all of you, and we hope that you continue to enjoy the PLAYISM library."

Hey, uh, we have arbitrarily decided to lock you out of your purchased games. But don't worry! We're extremely excited to roll out a new website that won't let you access the stuff you paid for! Thanks for the money, baka gaijin!

You know, if they had gone bankrupt, if they had shut down for good, I'd be understanding and forgiving. Hey, I've lost accounts before (Desura, Dotemu), shit happens. But those guys are just taking the piss.

Shamefur dispray, commit sudoku, etc.

Late reply, but it looks like most of their games are on Steam. Their current storefront also mentions providing a DRM-free copy of their games with a Steam key. Since they generate 100% profits, unlikely for those exclusives to make its way to GOG unless the gamedev is strapped for cash.

Huh, actually looks like they have some exclusives here not on Steam:

Platypus 1 & 2 are on Steam,, so is Pink Heaven. There are quite a few games on there and it would be nice if they would publish it on other platforms.

Good catches, thank you. Let's hope so.
