So I've never played any Call of Duty game. (except the DS games for some reason)
Anyone here have any opinions on which would be the best one if I decided to try one?
I played CoD 2 once. It was fun. Can't say anything else.
I only played 1 and 2 back in the PSX days. They were ok. I lost track after Call of Duty 99-attack-of-black ops-delta-force-terrorist-viper team-heroes-freedom-force dlc. At this point I'm starting to wonder what all the fighting is about.

War stuff?
Aren't they all the same game? Like, with other names and numbers attached?

Yeah, but against who? Have they done alien invasions yet? What about insects... or maybe giant, mechanical spiders.
I can only say I played COD1 with the UO expansion pack. It was fun game but at that time, I was getting burned out on FPS games in general which is why I haven't even played COD2 yet.

For what it's worth, I did enjoy COD1 more than I enjoyed MOHAA but for WW2 shooters, I still prefer RTCW over these two.

I'm pretty sure they have, one of the latest games had aliens instead of a zombie mode.

1 through 3 were WWII, rest is modern stuff.

I only played 1 but it was really fun, especially the expansion pack.

thats hard to say, they differ. do you like realism in fps games? do you like mil simulations? do you prefer ww2 setting?

I don't really like arma if that's what you mean by mil sim. Realism really depends on the game, I can't remember any ww2 games I played aside from RTCW.

if you liked rtcw, then i would recommend to try wolfenstein (2009) and singularity, instead of any cod game. anyway, in my opinion most of the cod parts (aside from cod1+add on and cod2) are bad single- and multiplayer games
1 & 2 basically ripped entire scenes from war flicks like Enemy at the Gates and Band of Brothers. They’re very much spectacle shooters, and the set pieces dazzled me back in the early 2000s. The guns felt great, and the multiple campaigns kept the locales fresh. Charging into Red Square with no weapon and a line of commissars behind you ready to open fire at the first sign of ‘cowardice’ was a compelling moment to be sure.

The first one is really good, came out around the same time as MOH:AA, which is also very good. Number 2 wasn't too bad, seemed to have a bit more squad things added in, but still worth playing. I think 3 was console only, so not played. After that it went all 8 year old yewSa, hut hut, kill Rest Of World, online multiplayer crap, so if your interested in that type of thing...
Me I prefer the older varieties, even things like Battlestrike, Code of Honor, Elite Forces, not to mention all the great shooters from the Quake engines era's.
