I understand that this is rather a fortunate coincidence and that it can end at any moment, but still. I love poking around with old hardware and play old games on old laptops. I've got several models from 2001-2006. And it is very convenient that you can download the GOG release, rather than fiddling with original images or repacks from dubious personalities.

My hobby is strange, but I'm glad that so far with GOG I'm able to do it comfortably.

p.s. for example recent Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory Single-Player fan-made release is incompatible with Win XP, it's installer isn't working.
Agree with the sentiment, even if my last 32bit-capped machine passed away years ago. Keeping old games' compatibility with decent old systems is important. So thanks from me as well.
I feel they will keep the compatibility for as long as they can, until the developer or unfortunate system requirements pushes ahead with updating the game or something.
You're welcome, it's completely an accident.

Try not to rely on this.

I've seen some recent installers that use the most recent windows dependency packs and dll's, which only work on 10/11. That is an annoyance.
I wish Windows ME, XP, Win7 a long and happy life! :)
I am glad I got those recently added three Tomb Raider games to run on my WinXP.
They were cheap enough for me to get and not lament a lot if they would've not.

Sometimes I try to get Windows things working on Linux but it is slow process since I don't really like it very much.
All I will say is I will continue to be using Windows XP for the rest of my life followed by Windows 7.
Very long life for Windows XP and Windows 7
