Has anyone whose purchased System Shock Enhanced Edition found that the game does NOT have any options for keyboard mapping (for example, its impossible to use or remap WASD in-game movement)? That's what I'm experiencing. My copy from GOG is missing that feature. In one of the game's readme files, I found a reference to a Controls.cfg file that *could* be used to remap the keyboard -- but that Controls.cfg file itself is missing. Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have a solution to allow for keyboard mapping in the game?

There is a controls.cfg file in the root of the installation directory, perhaps that would work?

According to the accompanying documentation, the enhanced edition does use WASD. Additionally, the game directory contains both a controls.cfg file and a sshock.ini file which both contain pretty much the configuration options you'd expect from such files.

Edit:
Somewhat ninja'd.

Having just tried it myself, I can confirm that (for me at least) the game does use WASD movement. Are you sure you installed the enhanced edition and not the classic one?
WASD is default movement key in System Shock EE (I am playing EE haven't played classic edition).
However, I encountered a small glitch while playing.
Movement keys froze.
On pressing alt+tab twice (first press gets you from game to desktop and second press gets you from desktop to game) fixed the problem.
Did you press the E key? If not, do it. It toggles between mouse cursor movement and WASD.

No it doesn't. It toggles mouselook on and off, and has absolutely no bearing on WASD whatsoever.
Hello everyone. First, I just want to give a big "Thank you!" to everyone whose provided help to me in this thread. I very much appreciate all of your comments and insights. Now, after reading over all the comments, clearly my installation of System Shock Enhanced Edition was missing some key files and functionality (for example, my installation -- and re-installation -- never installed a controls.cfg file in the game's root). Mind you, I downloaded and installed my copy of System Shock Enhanced Edition through GOG Galaxy. So... I then tried an experiment: I downloaded the game again but this time, I didn't use GOG Galaxy. I then *manuallly* installed the game and, guess what? The manual installation DID install the controls.cfg file and it also allowed for toggling between keyboard and mouse, WASD movement, etc.!

So, for some reason, when I installed the game through GOG Galaxy, WASD movement, the controls.cfg file, etc. simply didn't install. Hmm. Might someone else here be able to install the game via GOG Galaxy to see if he/she gets the same result that I did? I'd be very interested if you find that the GOG Galaxy-installed version lacks WASD movement options where as a manually installed version of the game contains that movement.

And, again, everyone, thanks for your help!

Just did both a manual and a Galaxy install of the game and the only difference was the presence of the EULA.txt in the manual installation. Otherwise, it was exactly the same; 21 items with about 284 MBs.

I installed my version through Galaxy right away when the game was released and didn't have any problems. Is it possible you clicked on the 'classic edition' by mistake?

That is exactly what I was thinking.
