NEWS: New Profile Privacy Settings on Steam Steam has changed, or better said, added new options to the profile settings about its privacy. The new options affect if your games list, wishlisted games list, playtime and achievements can be seen by others or left private only for you. From today and by default for all Steam users, these settings are now set to "Friends Only".

A: Yes. The default option will affect the automatic or manual syncing with sites like "SteamGifts", "SteamGifts Tools" or "SteamDB", among others, that gather data from your profile to produce information for their site. For SteamGifts, the syncing in necessary so it can keep track of the games you already have, the games you wish and the groups you belong, to show you all the giveaways you can enter based on that. SG Tools checks both, the games you've won on SteamGifts and your profile, so it can list non-activated wins or multiple wins of the same game from any public Steam profile.
Q: Then, what can I do?
A: Easy, just make sure to set your profile and game details as "Public", as soon as possible, so those sites can gather the necessary data properly when they have to sync.
Q: But I like my *precious* profile private!
A: That's not a question, Gollum. But I understand you like it that way. When you have to set your profile as "Public" every week to sync it with SteamGifts, remember to make sure that the options for "Game Details" are also set to "Public".
Q: Where can I set these privacy options?
A: From you Steam profile. In "Edit Profile" —> "My Privacy Settings". Direct link:
