I don't know if this would solve it but wouldn't be the offline modus a possibility? You don't need internet connection to play Steam games which are already installed on the PC. Cloud saving is optional and games save on the PC if there is no internet connection. But perhaps I missed something.

Thousand of people have over the last 2 years have all asked for the Library Lock, what the community call it, to be removed. VALVe have never replied, nor shown any sign of shifting on it.

Sure I can put my account into offline mode so my account and 1 other account can play, or just do what every one did before SFS and all use the same account offline.

The thing is knowingly bypassing a DRM system even by just using Offline mode breaks the DMCA (not sure about the EU version). Using offline mode is, from a legal stand point, just as bad as using a crack.

Pillars of Eternity can be added to the list as well. Tested on Windows 7 64bit.

USing offline mode with a SFS share online allows the owner and 1 addition person to play.

There is however a pervasive misconception on how SFS works. Its nothing to do with unwillingness. People believe that SFS works like real sharing and will allow two or more people play different games at the same time. Which it doesn't. Its highly restrictive and near useless for families.

People are also ignorant to the language of the SSA. Up until JUne this year, letting my children or wife use my games (with out SFS) was breaking the SSA. The language of the SSA strictly prohibited letting ANYONE use your account. Even the current SSA strictly prohibited letting ANYONE use your account, unless authorised by VALVe. Except there is no list of authorised activities and I've not got an email saying I can let my kids us my games.

Lets all ignore the issues, a pretent they don't exist. Just play our games. And when, a few years later you've found you've grown up and have children you can look at the whats happened.

The problem is that is exactly what I did. When, in 2009ish, valve changed Steam and the SSA to exclude all posibility of multiple people using one account the community should have kicked up more of a fuss. But the demographic was different back then, and there was a lot less active users. I honestly didn't think it mattered.

Its your view that none of this matters, and if it doesn't affect you then that's okay. But it does affect me and my family.

So you're kids are playing your Steam games, unless you've only got one computer or have got some time share going on you're using offline mode.

I also believe you used to use No-cd cracks.

However, whether you want to talk about or not, anyone that has let their children, wife, bother, sister or so on use their account in the last 6 years was breaking the SSA. I doubt personal use could have ever stood up in a court of law, but it was written into the SSA.

The same goes for the DMCA. Bypassing the restrictions of a DRM, even by using in built functions is breaking the Law. Again, I doubt you could ever be taken to court over it, but there it is.

I don't think you believe I'm making this up, rather just see them as non-issues.

In away they are non-issues, since you can get around them and you're not going to going to jail over them. But they're the basis of a system that controls how you access the games you own.

My beef with SFS is it was supposed to deliver something it does not, yet many people believe it does.

I could mess around with ensuring kids always start in offline mode, and by the definition of both thd law and the SSA break the law, or I could use a crack and break the same agreement and law but means the games can be set up and left.
