dcgelfling: I don't know if it's better than the time machine sale or just differently awesome, but there is something camaraderie-inducing about the Insomniac sale. Stockholm Syndrome, maybe, except we are all free to go away and ignore the whole thing if we wanted to. So, maybe closer to a Skinner Box. Anyway, it's fun and irregularly rewarding.
I first signed on to GOG back in 2010 but didn't first post until 11/2013. AKA, Fall Insomnia :D

HypersomniacLive: Because unlike you, other people enjoy it? For a good number of peeps here, it's as much (if not more) about the fun and camaraderie on the forum as about the sale itself.

The wishlist is a box with suggestions about things folks like to see on GOG, if you agree you vote, if you not then you don't.
avatar
richmondody: Well, if the appeal is more about the forum rather than the sale, then I concede. That being said, this is still a really bad format for a sale and I wish they don't do it again.
Well I agree that not everyone is going to enjoy this but then GOG does many other types of sales - this one just encourages a community-wide groan of pain or cry of triumph ;-)
avatar
richmondody: And how is it fun exactly? What makes this better than something their old sales format where it would last for several days or the other format that GOG used where games were available for 1-3 hours and you could vote to increase or decrease the time?
avatar
bluey83: Well first off, they aren't the OLD format of sales here, they are just a different sales format.

Speaking personally I have had a lot of fun during this sale spending more time in ths thread than I thought I would (before peeking in). the community spirit, fun, kind, generous and helpful people here make the sale an event, not just a random sale that happens to be going on somewhere.

And judging by the 620 pages of posts, I would say that a lot of people feel the same
I 2nd that...the latent impulse buyer in me gets to come out and I get to waste 2 days of work time creeping on the forum and front page....having said that I'm sure I would have wasted the 2 days at something else non work related <<;

Krostas: Dungeon Keeper Gold: 59QW-GLTH-BXDR-S72B

Have fun whoever gets it first, I hope it's somebody who actually plays them. ;-)
You, sir, are awesome. I redeemed the Dungeon Keeper Gold key and am looking forward to playing it once this blasted sale is over! :D

Thanks a million!
avatar
Grargar: The good thing with GOG codes is that at least you know who redeemed them.
As long as he hasn't got multiple accounts, it sure as hell wasn't Momo. ;-)

Edit: You're welcome! :-)

Krondor next?

Momo1991: LOL - that's just part of the fun!
I'm about to head to sleep finally but thought I'd offer this suggestion Momo both here and to put in the MAHAYO thread...

Enjoying the GOG community? Loving the generous atmosphere and want to give back?

Let's say you offer something publicly and get a reply from someone and are curious as to their participation in the community? Here's the easy way to see most of it:

http://www.gog.com/forum/general?search=Tarnicus

Input their user name there and if all you see is someone who asks or accepts gifts and gives NOTHING...well you've got your answer about their character.

CarrionCrow: I'll be pointblank honest with you. Offline? I'm about as introverted as it gets. Super awkward, don't talk much aside from trying my best to be polite and considerate (no giving people in retail shit because they might be overloaded with people to deal with, things like that) or ranting about whatever's driving me up a wall at that particular moment.
This is the ONLY place I've felt comfortable with actually talking to people. So it's totally worth it.
avatar
kmolloy: That is great to hear. I feel the same way, especially with how respectful and helpful everyone here is.
Yeah, it's almost a shock to the system. Last place I frequented sure as hell wasn't about doing good things for others or having good conversation. Still working on the whole "there are actual good people here, you don't have to worry about being half a second away from some stupid argument" mentality shift.

Chernobyl89: Krondor next?
Random.

Wow Krondor is next. Thanks

Gnostic: Oh no....... it goes again........

Don't you guys ever regret it?

Grargar: Masochists don't ever regret the pain.
You crazy guys - they must add some strange forbidden substances in your water

IAmSinistar: I'd like the Fall/Spring twice-yearly pairing even more, but I have things wrong with me.
Haha... if that happens then people who don't like this sales format are going to start their own wishlist so that you were never born. :P
