Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

sharp299: I impresive how all games based on Dungeos and dragons sells to quick....why are so popular?
Good plot, good party mechanics, good writing... and have aged better than the late 80's/early 90's licensed AD&D titles.

spoonwhale: I'm just gonna play Baldur's Gate 2 and not worry about the first one.

And if i like BA 2, then i'll get Planescape :D

Though i'll have to wait for the winter sale.
avatar
Khalaq: I really do encourage you to play BG1, first. There's a lot of backstory to BG2 you will miss out on, even though you could carry one without it. Also, you can port your BG1 game into BG2 to continue your story.
I appreciate the advice, but it's too late now, I think. I might pick it up alongside Planescape if I like BA 2 and there's a sale.

If you haven't played any of the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) games, and if you like role-playing games, you have to try them. Baldur's Gate is one of the classics, in my humble opinion.

CorranHorn: Anyone having problem with Sacred : Gold on Windows 7, 64 bit?
there was someone irate posting before about it not working with GTX 550 Ti, so probably you should check in the game specific forum as there may be known issues with solutions

Right. And I've seen a few people say they got Populous and so on. The forum for this one has made me a bit myopic, I guess.

sharp299: I impresive how all games based on Dungeos and dragons sells too quick....why they are so popular?
Because they are usually complex games with many different possibilities to solve quests and have a good story.

mawihtec: 14 anodyne left please someone anethsetise this game
thx

GhostwriterDoF: The worst thing is when you buy a game at regular price and then it goes on a sale a week later, or a month later next... if you don't score a nice discount during this sale, do try to wait for the coming Christmas sale, it traditionally has the best discounts, followed by the Summer sale, with lots of game Titles discounted, and no pressure or wait times like in this sale.
Although it has to be noted the games in the summer/winter sale that are 75% (80%) off are in stacking bundles (you have to buy the whole bundle for the discount).

CorranHorn: Anyone having problem with Sacred : Gold on Windows 7, 64 bit?
If so try downloading the patch, I did and then it started (not the GoG version though so it that one could already be patched).
If you're having issues with a specific game you should head to that game's own subforum here on GOG forums and/or message GOG support.
avatar
Velgor: Curse you and your silver tongue! Bought it.
avatar
groze: Bless their silver tongue instead. Primordia is one of the best "modern"games I've played. Ever. Not even in recent times, just... ever. Take a look at the Primordia subforums here on GOG to have a peek at what kind of amazing experience awaits you.

Seriously.
My only regrets are the next credit card bill. But I rationalize it this way: I'm supporting awesome indie developers and getting great stuff for crazy cheap prices. I could have (almost) bought one modern AAA title release, but instead I've got over 20 games on GOG as well as gifted games to make others happy. So, yeah, total win-win-win! :)

Haven't downloaded it yet,

Do you have DirectX 9 installed on your system, you will probably need to have it, for lots of older games to run properly.

DirectX 9 can be installed without issues and will run with DX10/ 11 at the same time....
After Icewind, all I'm missing is BG2. Winter sale...
