Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****
****NO IT'S NOT WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU CRAZY PERSON

As much as I love chilling in the halls of the Order of Keaning's Insomnic Treatment facilities, if people decided to as a community buy up extra games to offer as incentives for buying less popular games so as to speed through them quicker. Well, it's just a thought. 0 : -) :3

ElasmoFan: Do I really need Underworld though? I feel like 4 and 7 would already last me quite a while.
avatar
MadSweeney: Considering how many entries there are in the Ultima series, and the consistent level of quality across nearly every game, any time spent in Underworld (on top of 4 and 7) would be time well spent, in my opinion.
Martian Dreams is SO GOOD

HexElf: I actually did pass up on most of them. I bought several System Shock 2 copies though and forced my friends to experience Shodan! But only because I already had the game myself xD
avatar
GhostwriterDoF: A positively brilliant example of what to do with the games we really do enjoy, and the price is too good to pass up... :D
Well it certainly was exciting that one of them had a son who had actually put System Shock 2 on his Christmas wish list, so it was passed along to him. I almost cried a little xD

deathmyrk: ... Daggerfell and Arena has always intrigued me. I have to find those games...
You can download them both for free from Bethesda's own website.

Enjoy!
dam it! 600 copies of UU has killed my chance at getting Thief2 & Icewind Dale - got to leave in 1 1/2 hours max...and it looks like UU may still be up!!!!! QQ

Beelzebubb: Daggerfall is my favorite game of all time. Im not just saying that either. Its #1 easily. Have had it on my computer(s) since I was a wee kid.
avatar
deathmyrk: I always wanted to try Daggerfell since Morrowind. That game was amazing. I love all the quirks in the game, like the obsession for mudcrabs and the wizard randomly falling to his death from the sky. I also loved the factions, and how there were feuds and property holds. I wish Bethesda would have spared the graphics in TES IV and V in favor of making deeper systems found in Morrowind. The latter aren't nearly as compelling as the former. But Daggerfell and Arena has always intrigued me. I have to find those games...
For the record, Bethesda released both Arena and Daggerfall as legal freeware a couple of years ago. They're interesting and worth taking a look at to see where the series has come from if nothing else. Arena is surprisingly ahead of its time for a game that came out in 1994, and Daggerfall is an amazingly ambitious, hot mess of jank barely kept together at the seams.

Not to worry, there will be a big sale in about a month...

Just so you know, some of us have actually been doing that. I know I've taken my fair share of bullets for the team. I'm done doing that for the time being. And, also, I already have a copy of Ultima Underworld 1&2, as do most of my friends.

This is embarrassing, Ultima Underworld should be selling just as fast any other classic... maybe everyone that wanted it got it the first two passes or maybe people are scared away by the graphics.

Its a shame tbh.

If you want Thief 2, why not try out the series where that started? ;) (The Underworlds were the prototype for the Thief, System Shock, and Deus Ex games.)

deathmyrk: No, sadly its only on Playstation 1 and 2, and they have released reboots on PSP. They are very unique games. One of a kind really. It's like there are just so many variables to take in with each weapon, and the games have this sense of exploration. They are very dark in nature as well. The thing that is the Achille's heel is that the game require patience, especially The Ancient City, as it involves a lot of backtracking. If you are very curious, they have let's play videos on Youtube. I got into the games after playing Dark Souls, and I am never going to sell/get rid of those games. I have also heard of Moonlight Sword editor where fans have created a PC prequel to Kings Field that is free. I never tried it though, but it looks great.

Ooooooo, don't mind if I do. Thanks!
