Deals so good, you won't want to fall asleep.
You remember back when you used to walk into a store, browse the shelves, pick out a game, and then buy it--all in the actual real world? We don't know about you, but most of us at GOG.com have had our limbs atrophy to small vestigial nubbins since all of our shopping happens online these days. Of course, one thing that sometimes happens in real world stores with real world goods--particularly when they have a good sale--is that they run out of stock. Usually that means that the deal was so good that they couldn't keep up with demand.

Well, in the digital realm, this is usually pretty rare. How do you run out of stock on digital games, short of entropy devouring the universe? Well, we have gotten 101 games that will be on sale on the front page of GOG.com, but the discounts are so high at the moment that we can't just sell an unlimited number of copies of these games: we are only able to sell a few at these discounts--up to 80% off--and once they're gone, they're gone.

So what games will be on sale in our Insomnia promo? Bestselling classics and new games alike. There will also occasionally be some free games in super limited numbers (like, 20 or 30 copies)--if you're fast enough on the trigger finger to pick 'em up, that is. The deal will run from now until we're out of "stock" of games for the sale, and games may show up more than once. So it's time to bathe in a tub of coffee*, dip some espresso**, snort an energy drink***, or do whatever else it takes to stay up so you don't miss out on the best deals on fantastic games on GOG.com since summer.
*This is probably not a good idea
**This is definitely not a good idea
***This is totally safe, though****

iAmTheTot: I picked up this Darkeye game. It looks pretty good. I was raised on King's Quest, Space Quest, and Monkey Island so a point-and-click adventure game is right up my alley. I haven't really played anything from the adventure scene in like ten years, though. This game looks very modern (updated graphics, I mean) and I can't wait to see how it plays compared to the adventure classics. :D
Have you seen any of the Space Quest fan games that have come out the last few years? I thought that they were great spiritual successors and a lot of fun.

Minmataro: Am i the only person that dislikes the resolution mods for the BG type RPGs? Playing games like planescape at a high res pulls me out of the game. characters are so small. I would rather the original look i can actually see whats going on.

Then again i am half blind and old...
Tbh, I believe in playing all the games umodded at least the first time around. Not exactly because I'd dislike resolution mods, it just makes for a more pure old-school experience.+ - in my head at least :P

Yeah, it's the one mod I refuse to use for them.

I second this.

(and I've actually had multiple discussions here on GOG forums regarding that issue, it would seem a lot of us prefer playing Infinity Engine games with their original preset resolutions, with barely any or no mods at all)

DrRoxo: It's been a while since we had any GOG employees in here, what's up with that? I miss them blue letters :)

justanoldgamer: I dont' think they work during the weekend, when one post it is from home on their own time.
Oh, right, forgot it was weekend. Lack of sleep will do that :D

I usually agree.... Unless it's a Bethesda Softworks game, then you have to mod the living daylights out of it.
The ultimate showstoppergame, EadorMiameStarveKeaneBundle game!
My anxiety might make me buy this game just so I can see what's next quicker.

Can't say I have! Like I said, I haven't really followed the genre over the last decade. I shifted more to consoles and handhelds even though I was raised on PC. Point-and-click doesn't really translate well to console, though I /really/ got back into the genre with Telltale's Walking Dead game. /Really/ looking forward to the second season, and this GOG sale is JUST in time because I just ordered a new, modern gaming PC that should arrive this week. I'm buying all these games in anticipation of having a machine that can actually run them, hah!

I agree, except I like to raise the resolution slightly to something 16:9.

I dont know i just like the original look. The bigger UI, the close in view, the original 4:3 ratios. Im funny that way.

There are a few mods I like to use - mostly the ones that make the letters show up better on widescreen, and the widescreen mods because good luck getting it to run at 4:3 resolution on my widescreen monitor. But otherwise I prefer them untouched. I don't want no new companions in my BG thanks! Don't need to romance Solufein either.....

D4N3: If any one is curious, Dark Eye computer games were originally released in the US as Realms of Arkania. Played em back in the day, not too bad. Not sure how it would convert to an adventure game though.
Thank you. The first two "Realms of Arkania" games are on sale and despite their age, they both seem like a better introduction to this beautifully realized world. Guess I don't have to feel guilty about giving this one a pass. 9 left!
