Good choice of answers to pick as the solution, I think :)

Don't worry about that; If you want to play a specific game it isn't a sin to switch to the dark side for a while... I bought Half-Life 2 (Orange Box) in 2006 and when i opened the box, i saw it needed Steam account and net connection. By the time i didn't have a fast connection (56K) and i really didn't want to mess with DRM so i didn't install it until 2013 when i bought Skyrim. (I really wanted to play Skyrim)

One thing lead to another and ended up buying another 6 games for Steam (all retail, all from the bargain bin massively discounted) but then i decided i should really stop supporting DRM because you know.... i hate it! :P Anyway, have fun with your game! ;)

Well, I want to play Dark Souls, so I guess it makes sense to switch to the "dark side". ( Would make even more sense if I wanted to play Darksiders. Hur. )

Joking aside, it's mostly practical reasons which kept me away from Steam. But maybe ( hopefully ) it won't be so bad.
