This is a bit of a separate topic away from the South Korean PC scene, but for those who may not know there was a huge PC scene in Japan from the 1980s to about around the early-mid 2000s.

Lot of those games appeared on NEC-PC-88 or PC 98, FM-Towns, MSX1/2, etc.

Given PC-88/98 has uh a unfortunate reputation of developers that made naughty stuff, but not all games were like that at all.

FM-Towns is sort of a more of a powerhouse when it came to graphics that benefited games like Ultima, and Wizardry port variants.

There is a list of FM-Town Games on Mobygames for those curious (I can't post it here since GoG seems finicky about links apparently).

While its possible a lot of those games are now considered abandoned, and never have re-surfaced again (with very rare exceptions). I always thought it be would good to see if those Developers are still around, so they can earn some kind of living again from their old projects should they want to do so or even update those projects if they wanted since we're seeing a moderate trend of updated classics lately.

Even if the games remain in Japanese, but I think its still good to experience something foreign if you understand the language well enough and maybe eventually they'll do a official English version or the community will through a mod.

I'm aware of the technical hurdles surrounding these PC systems, so if we gotta have something similar like GoG's DOSbox then I suppose there will to be some work done to get those emulated properly.

In a way I feel like that part of the PC Retro Scene is like the long lost brother to the western PC games we have on here in spades.

Edit -

Turns out there is a Japanese Counterpart of GoG, so I guess this topic is worthless hahaha.
