Procedural generation is rarely used because devs lack the ability to design levels. (They usually still have to design the level segments that get procedurally assembled anyway.) It is used so devs can claim their game has "endless replayability" because "no two runs are ever the same". Of course more often than not the procedural generation makes every run/level/room feel almost identical. The times it is actually done right and works out as advertised tend to be rare. Which category this falls into, I don't know personally.

Well I have played a fair few of these (mostly as it’s every other game now) and I have yet to find a single one where I managed to get through the game once without being boarded stiff of the same repetitive levels. Shadow warrior 2 is a great example, the 2013 was classic, the second gets boring about 1h n when you have seen everything. Shame as combat isn’t bad.
And to note, both games release today are “procedurally generated”, it’s an increasing trend.

I say procedural generation would be great for maze games .. the only game I can think of thats not a maze game that done it right despite not a maze game I personally played is Immortal Redneck given how that is handled

You have to know level design to correctly implement proc gen levels so please stfu.
It actually has kind of a nice aesthetic, but the gameplay itself looks so generic it could have been programmed on a TI-85.

Add in "procedurally generated" levels that means utterly bland and endlessly repetitive, and you don't have a winner.

Oooh, no I don’t think think I will. As I mentioned above and shadow warrior 2, clearly has no “design”, simply moving things about, repeat repeat… as with all these procedurally generated games, boring and repetitive, and more and more of them. If you like that good for you, don’t like my opinion I couldn’t give a P in the ocean.
It looks like someone made Slime Rancher into a competitive FPS, and I don't think that quite jives.
To be honest with more budget, well curated multiplayer map and 4 vs 4 or 8 vs 8 multiplayer and this game can compete with current CS Go, Valorant, and other competitive FPS games.
