A true classic is back! The turn-based strategy gem titled M.U.L.E. from 1983 arrives on GOG.COM in all of its pixelated glory.

Developed by Danielle Bunten Berry and Ozark Softscape, this engaging turn-based strategy enabled four players to have fun at the same time. It is set on the fictional planet Irata (actually “Atari” spelled backward) and poses the gamers with a challenge in providing supply to the colonists.

To achieve success, you must not only compete against other players in gaining wealth and prosperity but also cooperate with them to ensure the survival of the colony. The key to winning the game is the acquisition and use of co-called Multiple Use Labor Elements, or M.U.L.E.s, to develop and harvest the planet’s resources.

To celebrate M.U.L.E.’s release we’re hosting a Weekly Sale of turn-based strategy games up to 90% off.

It's great to see this on GOG but $10 AUS for a game from 1983......sounds like someone has a cocaine problem that needs funding.
Blessed are those whose ancestors stared into the sun so you could play this game.
I'll probably end up buying this but it would have been better to release the C=64 version just for the music. :)
What is this... No achievements...? Booo!

Seriously now, this is the foundation on which, even today, giants stand.
What the heck?!? $7-9 for a game that is almost 40 years old and text-based? A lot of games, even newer ones, are freeware and offers more.

Yes, cocaine is hell of a drug as they say... these old text-only based games should be freeware (just like a museum), and certainly not at that price.

Wow.
Have to admit i did not know the game at all (at least on "active knowledge")- seems like this was a classic i missed back in the days. But kinda intrigued just to buy it as a mark in history of games (don't think the gameplay will hold up without any nostalgia googles)

I think GOG should tell what version it is when releasing old emulated games that were available on multiple system as all ports are not equal. I also hope we'll see more old emulated games from the 8 bit era.

And the game's page does not mention the manual. I remember having a pirated copy (back when I did that sort of thing) and not being able to figure out how to play it.
Hello. That's a name I haven't heard in a long, long while.

That's also what I hope for as it's not only a bigger marked for it, but also so much better than IBM compatible PC in this era.

IBM compatible PC's was the laughing stock of digital systems (PC and consoles), both in terms of graphics and music capabilities.

EDIT:

One can compare the versions here:

Legendary game from a Legendary developer. There are another two tiltes from the same developer here. Recomendable for historical reasons specifically. This guy career was pushing the boundaries of strategy games and real time experiments when it didn't existed.
.
The question is: Is it playable today? is it worth trying again?

And which version is this? is it emulated of it did exist an IBM/PC version?
Greetings

Indeed, but I would have added a few more long's.
Yeah, I did buy it, but at $9 it’s hard to feel good about buying it.
