The one console to rule them all…

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, the satirical JRPG series finally takes on Windows computers everywhere, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 takes place in the land of Gamindustry, it's a story of four goddesses also known as Console Patron Units, or CPUs, locked in a thousand year struggle, called the Console War, in which they fight each other for shares. Yup.
If that wasn't blunt enough - the Hyperdimension Neptunia series is a spoofy JRPG take on the gaming industry. The world, the characters, everything here is a little nod, a gamer-friendly meme, or just unabashed satire. But don't be mistaken, the game is far from a one-trick pony - there is plenty here for fans of the genre. Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 brings a novel fighting system which combines free movement with classic turn-based RPG combat, as well as many other huge improvements in mechanics and presentation over the game originally released on the PSP.

You can also pick up the Additional Content1 DLC pack featuring a much higher level cap, new quests, battles and Plans.

Is the Console War worth fighting? Find out with Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1, DRM-free now on GOG.com! The launch discount will end on November 10, 1:59 PM GMT.

VanishedOne: *Loads up the enigmatic hint thread*
Hehehe...was about to do that myself :D

InfraSuperman: So, was this the subject of that enigmatic hint about "console wars" from a while back?
Yes :)

Maxvorstadt: What? Is this the big thing?

Celton88: Hope not.
This is why we can't tease anything around here: people expect things afterwards :P

JudasIscariot: Yes :)

JMich: Dare I ask why it took so long?

...

Scratch that, I do dare.
Why did it take so long?

Dare you answer? :P
edit: I gave a better answer a couple of posts below this one.

It was actually a matter of principle and I am not being facetious about it, either :) Just...guess what I mean, ok? :)

mobutu: Don't forget to send a free code to the first who guessed it correctly half a year ago :)

Back ontopic: this must be the first gametrailer from which I don't understand a damned thing!
Way ahead of you on that :)

Bethezer: There is not, at this point, a separate sub-forum for Neptunias (RIOT), but when it shows up - please post this there. I can come in handy for those who can't stomach that kind of thing. :)

FakhriAsen: Bought it!
Does anyone know if there are any plans to make a Linux version?
Meanwhile, I can confirm the Wine install works, but the game won't run after that (Wine version 1.6.2, Ubuntu 15.04).
I doubt there will be a Linux version, sad to say. Most JRPG ports don't really get one :/

Also, try a different version of Wine like 1.7.54 :)

FakhriAsen: Thanks, I'll try.
After Wine 1.7.53 fixed my issues with Elminage Gothic I ain't EVER going back to 1.6.2 :D
