To arms, my noble Saxon knights!

Defender of the Crown, a 1986 turn-based strategy classic, originally launched on the Commodore Amiga, is available in all it's pixelated glory on GOG.com, for $5.99!

We are happy to announce a new partnership with Cinemaware that will bring plenty of mouth-watering classics in their best available incarnations. Starting with Defender of the Crown, more classic titles from Cinemaware will release on GOG.com with both PC and emulated Commodore Amiga versions. Yes, the graphically superior, awesome, beautiful and shiny Amiga versions!

Today's release is a wonderful gem straight from the 80s. Back in the day, Defender of the Crown set a new standard for graphical presentation and innovative, fresh gameplay. As the leader of an initially sparse pack of Saxon knights, building up your army and influence as you proceed, you'll have to stick it to the Normans in an effort to gain control of the war-torn medieval England. Your strategic prowess as well as your sword fighting skills will be severely tested. This turn-based strategy classic will have you saving damsels in distress with your blade, jousting with fearsome knights, and besieging Norman castles - all the while reveling in the Amiga quality sound and beautiful graphics.

Defeat those pesky Normans and unite England in Defender of the Crown, for $5.99 on GOG.com.

tinyE: Broken record here (and an obscene one at that):

STOP FUCKING COMPLAINING ABOUT GOG NOT RELEASING ANY FUCKING CLASSIC GAMES!!!!!!!!

I'm not even a big fan of this title and I might try to snag it at a discount down the road, but THIS IS the very embodiment of a Good Old Game.
STOP FUCKING COMPLAINING ABOUT PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT GOG NOT RELEASING ANY FUCKING CLASSIC GAMES!!!!!!!!

Well, your choice of course, but I haven't seen that many complaints lately. Can you direct me to any recent ones in release threads?

damien: does this mean more Amiga titles in the future? Or is this a one time Cinemaware deal?

Fever_Discordia: I would image there's more CINEMAWARE Amiga titles to come - not sure if that's a yes or a no...
yup, the whole Cinemaware catalog is supposed to be coming here

gandalf.nho: Never played this one, how's the difficulty?

Fever_Discordia: Fairly tough IIRC (I WAS pretty young at the time though) - one of those that relied on you being good at the arcadey minigames to make good progress on the more strategic side
Apart from jousting (tricky if you don't select a talented jouster at the start of the game), the arcade difficulty depended a lot on strategic situations : swordfighting and wallbreaching were much easier if you had brought a big army.
Cinemaware's announcement.

But then again, a Windows version has been around since 2002, and apparently freeware as well, though apparently not anymore?
I've never played any Amiga game, so this will be quite a nice new experience for me. Very nice, looking forward to the rest of the Cinemaware games showing up here.
It came from the desert? Am I correct? :)
This is a nice add...not sure if insta-buy or wishlist but well see once I get home from work! Love me some Amiga..
what is the deal with this? Is this supposedly "remastered edition" included in this package?

Got it. Couldn't wait for a sale on this one. One of my favorites.

I'd image that THAT was a back-port of the mobile version, still, would have been nice to have that version as well as the other two...

It's The Kristal that I'd like to see, sadly one of the least likely though, for a number of reasons :-(

Thank you GOG. This is the kind of games we (old) gamers want to see.
And as I understand, there are more to come........ Hooray!!!
Amiga amiga amiga!
FFFFFUUUUU...N YES! Bought the moment I saw the item card.

Let the new age of awesome begin!
Are we getting Wings and Rocket Ranger too? Will "It Came From the Desert" come its expansion disk?

Great news all around!
Impressive. Maybe this will open the floodgates for other Amiga games as well, and why not other older systems.

Cinemaware has some pretty interesting titles I've always wanted to give a spin, so I'll be looking at these releases with an interest.
