Dancing in the dark.

Aragami, a supernaturally-imbued stealth game, is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com, with a 10% launch discount.

Moving silently and avoiding light sources doesn't make you one with the shadows. You must dance with them, embrace them, let them flow through you like you flow through them. As a vengeful spirit summoned to this world by an enigmatic girl that wants to escape her prison, Aragami must fight the army of Light by disposing of its unwitting minions. Not an easy undertaking, but he yields the power to control the shadows, bend and twist them at will, and have them consume his opponents while keeping his presence concealed. Every challenge can be approached through multiple paths, however, and sparing your oblivious enemies may appeal to you more than bathing your sword in their blood. As long as you reach Yamiko in time to fulfil your mysterious destiny.

Infiltrate a well-protected city and cast your shadows upon its guards, as the vengeful Aragami, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Want to cover your footsteps with some atmospheric music? Then consider upgrading to the Collector's Edition, which includes both the OST and the fancy artbook.
The 10% discount will last until October 10, 3:59 PM UTC.

DampSquib: Is it KB&M friendly, key rebinding perhaps ? or best played on a pad kind of thing.
Apparently keybinding is currently fooked, but should be patched shortly. It is reported to be controller friendly.

You can't rebind keys yet, but one of the devs said he's working on it.

Thank you both kindly, think i will wait until it's fixed then.
Damn it missed the post that mentioned it, or wouldn't of asked.

It's unbelievable that a game in 2016 has no free keybinding ...
cool graphics

AvatarX001: Ok, you got me. Maybe something like Nightmare Creatures and Bloodborne, but cross-platform or for PC.

CharlesGrey: Yeah, damn platform exclusivity. But it seems to be the next best thing to a new Nightmare Creatures game. ( Frankly, it's probably better than the NC games ever were. ) Not sure about similar games on PC... Perhaps consider giving Victor Vran a look?
Took a look at it. Didn't like it. Nightmare Creatures 1 just turned 19 years. NC2 is 16 years old. For the time, they were great. Still are a great play via emulator as that allows you to play them in HD.
Wow, looks very stylish!
sorry to spoil everyone's fun, but... ain't it a game from "Mergegames" studio ?

because i sadefully "know" those folks as a spoiled (or more honnestly said "screwed up") customer !

They launched an indie project in 2013 called "Riot: Civil Unrest" (which seemed to be a nice game from what they could already show about it)... They explained it was still in development, but already launched preorders for 20 bucks through Humble store platform.

Since 2013 me ,and probably every other customers who had been fooled up, received ZERO update notification about the project, ZERO roadmap, ZERO dev's diary stuff, ZERO communication... The game wasn't even on steam greenlit or Eearly access system either... What i did receive during those 3 years were SPAMS mails for at least half a dozen of their other "projects" (i think aragami was in the bunch) for which no one could barely find any info or progress either... THEN a few weeks ago, "Riot: Civil Unrest" dared to appear on steam store with its own storepage (not even as greenlit or early access but directly "preorder" as if soon officially launched or released... Also, they put steam's preorder price to 10 bucks, which is coùplete screwup of customers from early 2013 or later; who were stripped of 20 bucks )

I since then tried to contact merge games through various contact adresses noted down on their website without ANY answer; but once i made a "reply to" using the "spam fantassy projects mail" i yet received, and i got an answer like "oh sorry, you raise a valid point about commmunication issue, we set up [insert steam communauty page url here] to adress that lately and we will be posting updates about the project every 2 weeks there"
Guess what: the communauty page claimed to host the update notifications is EMPTY ! again ZERO entry.

So i better warn you, we already saw shady devs who suddenly dropped out GOGers and discontinued support for their games here only to use GOG communauty as a mere bonus cash-in cattle of milking cows (that's you, folks...) but those ones... they seem even worse from the beginning.
What puzzles me is that aragami still is also released on playstation, so i guess they have a binding deal/contract with sony and they are ought not to fuck up to much with Sony on the matter... But regarding Aragami's PC version ? And worse, a "NICHE" drm-free pc version of it ? Well i wouldnt put too much faith in future or support or anything.

You have been warned

TL;DR
Aragami's devs/publisher, mergegames, are painfully known for shady/fraudulent scam against gamers, raising pre order funds upon some game projects which had ZERO update or notification during 3 whole years so far... Extreme caution is advised against those folks.

Edit: forgot to mention the disrecpectful move of new preorder price of 10 bucks, compared the 20 bucks scam in 2013 for early "victims"

Also, the only email adress that answered (kind of) my "Riot civil unrest" issue was customersupport@mergegames.com in an email from them talking about their Aragami signature edition... So even if mergegames is not listed in Aragami's GOG storepage, those two are obviously connected.

I saw the name and was hoping it was related to the Ryûhei Kitamura movie Aragami..... Oh well

Thanks for the warning and detailed explanation, much appreciated.
However, Merge Games is only the publisher, the developer is Lince Works.
Furthermore, Merge Games only publishes the console versions, it appears PC versions are self-published.

While you can surely draw conclusions of how well the publisher operates or how much he cares when it comes to its studios releases, I wouldn't blame the uninvolved Lince Works for it. If at all, blame is going to IV Productions, the developers behind RIOT - Civil Unrest, but I don't have any insight of what the issues with the game are, not counting what you posted about it, so I can't be the judge this time around.

Heyho.

GilesHabibula: This is my big hang-up right now as well. I'm a huge stealth nut, and was all set to hit the buy button, then decided to read the two reviews here. I may be able to get by playing with CTRL as my crouch key, but I've been using C for the last 20 years, and don't think I can change.

OTOH, I want this badly enough to give it a try.

Makes me also wonder if the Y-axis is not reversible. So many of these games just leave out that option these days, or use engines that don't support it. That would totally kill it for me.

X-com: The developer said they will be adding rebindable keys in the next week or two, also the option to remove camera shake.

Thanks for the confirmation link.

I guess I know what I'll be waiting for..
Any comment about the performance. "Unity", y'know.

Hi there!

David León from Lince Works here :)

I'm sorry you had some bad experiences with Merge Games, but from my personal and professional standpoint I'm really happy with their involvement in Aragami. Mind you, we are self-publishing Aragami on all platforms, MergeGames only handles manufacturing and distribution of physical copies.

Cheers!

You can't delete prev. post (from personal account), but you still can edit it (erase all text) and move it (text) to last post (from company's account and replace "Agh.. I posted with my personal account.. oh well").

btw. Thanks for publishing the game here. Wating for game since end of 2013.
