It was all a dream...
Sigh.
The thing is, they won't even answer us.

I'm less and less happy with GOG.

Yes, that is what bothers me most about this whole affair. GOG used to care for a good communication with their customers. But now they make very bad changes without prior communication. And often don't even reply to questions about these changes... It's like they stopped caring about their customers. "We're big enough now. So we can stop being nice." seems to be the new corporate policy.

I really hope that this is only a phase and that GOG will return to their old virtues (i.e. remove region locks and start talking to us again). But I am loosing hope.

WIth regards to no answer from GOG, I have the feeling that they are much more "lawyered up" these days than they used to be. They seem to never comment on something which could lead to legal or financial complications.

I fear the days of them being just a bunch of regular guys and gals who could say what they think is behind us now, sadly.

Yes, I'm afraid that is true. As soon as lawyers take over, 'being nice' becomes a thing of the past.

It could be a reason but this is not an isolated incident as GOG has been apologetic about their lack of communication on a variety of issues like old games becoming regional priced and radio silence regarding the constant spam in the forum initially.

I'm not so sure - creative competitions began adding (neccesary in certain territories) disclaimers that GOG would not presume to own any submissions etc - just one example - but they no longer do this. Same with sales like the mutator - they should display on the checkout page they will not offer refunds on that particular sale (required to be able to make the sale to certain territories), but it wasnt there and instead was buried in a change to the user agreement.
Just a couple of examples of course.

There are a lot of strange incidents that could point in any number of directions, and this is all speculation on my part. It's just that GOG has felt less open over the past year or so, almost as though the muffling hands of lawyers have put the fear into them.

"Think about what you're going to say, then think again. Then don't say it."

Even Uncle Sam agrees.

I honestly don't see what it is that makes you still cling on hope.

At least hope for the best, prepare for the worst?

Or something like that. 'Prepare for the worst' is at the moment: download all games and store them somewhere safe.

A wise move.
I would just like to say, GOG needs to change the way it maintains things around here. There was a giant hole in the system last night ( 9 hours ago). Either that or someone did it on purpose, but I'll have to contact support before they decide to suggest it was me who did something wrong.

it seems that gog don't intend to change this, they instead try to equal it out with nice promos, giveaways, mutators and critical hits.
