This is a small rant. But something that made me gringer and I'm truly wondering if I'm the only one who noticed.

Yes, I have been living for some years in a foreign country. Yes, I gain money in the currency of that foreign country. Yes, I have a credit card in this foreign country (actually, irrelevant as I use PayPal for GOG almost all the time).

Yet, when people ask me where I am from, I don't answer that I'm from this foreign country. I say my hometown country... But, not in this forum, no. This forum assumes that my IP MARKS my location (or the price paid for their products) and that if I put another thing, I'm wrong and they update it without asking me...

WHY ? WHY? WHY? WHY?

I don't care that the GOG paying system is so inferior to Steam that I'm forced to pay full (european) price for the games as long as I live in this foreign country. BUT AT LEAST that GOG don't change my own entries for "Location" for a freaking forum where they don't even try to avoid anonymous accounts!

That is a problem that often appears when sales hit. Normally the location setting in the account menu works fine. But every other a bit bigger sale it automatically puts it based on IP.
Another problem of this really wonky forum software, which will probably never be fixed unless gog starts using a new software ;-)

Sales ... I didn't think that those could be behind of the issue. I always though my location was being update after one purchase from my part (but... yeah, I usually got things on the sales).

Because is strange, is a field on your user settings that is only reflected in the forums. And yet, is updated by them.
