Breja: Sorry, not gonna work for me. I have to shave if I don't want to look like I'm trying for the worlds worst young Obi-Wan cosplay.

Make that a yes-shave November for me. I actually would love to grow a full beard, but my cursed straight hair starts to look really weird two/three weeks in. =/
In my opinion there's enough awareness of cancer. Together with heart-and-vein-diseases, it's the best-known disease around, the most talked about, the one people are most familiar with and together with heart-and-vein-diseases and STD's, the one where there's the most info to be found on as to what might prevent it and what behaviour might heighten the risk.
I think this belongs here:

I agree with that.

I think part of it comes down to people feeling like they have some power over this disease (or diseases, since there are so many different cancers). You can do all 'the right things' and still get cancer or heart disease, so these events let people do something - even if completely fruitless - to try to gain some control.

Myself, it gives me an excuse to avoid something I don't want to do anyway.
Am I the only one here that could go a year without shaving and not even have a five o'clock shadow? :P

If this forum had an 'insightful' button, I'd press it. I think you hit the nail on the head, if that's an English expression as well besides Dutch.

Not shaving doesn't raise awareness of anything, it's SOP for many males around the world. If you want to raise awareness with beards, you have to think big, you have to think bright, you have to think entertainment.

The real solution is glitter beards.
