I agree. It is much kinder to give people the benefit of the doubt and gently point them in the right direction than to slap them with negative rep, especially when they have just started posting on the forums. Negative rep can easily make others view them with suspicion, as I did with Fifoker when he asked for a giveaway that I posted in the ninja giveaway thread. After reading his posts and seeing the basis of having negative rep, I think it is ridiculous, just as it is for rating dracomage1996 poorly for posting the above comment.

Rep means bugger all when one has a decent amount of it but can adversely affect the way someone is viewed when starting out. If me posting this attracts negative rep, then so be it. Enough people in this community know that I well and truly contribute, and I find it detrimental to this community as a whole to see someone get treated this way.

Edit: had negative rep on the brain, corrected sentence that made no sense lol
