Just announced on The Witcher twitter:

https://twitter.com/witchergame/status/1505945110722326529

It seems to be a new Saga.

Multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. It covers not only licensing, but technical development of Unreal Engine 5, as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine, where relevant.

There are people thinking this means it could possibibly be EGS exclusive, but of course that's a no: https://twitter.com/witchergame/status/1505948511178833920

Press release in the attachment.

New game and new bugs. Crunches for studio workers. Disappointment from the players, falling stocks. Routine for CDPR.
Can't say I'm terribly excited for this since it likely will adapt and incorporate too much of modern (RP) game design, not to mention try to appeal to the modern audience's expectations.

Could be pretty good. Advantage of using an established engine tech means that you spend development hours on plot, gameplay and mechanics rather than trying to fix engine bugs. I reckon this will prevent a lot of the issues that CDPR had with Cyberpunk 2077.

Why would it not be an epic exclusive? GOG already sell epic store games via their site? CDPr owns GOG not the other way round so if CDPr want epic exclusive it’s up the them. Personally I would t care less either way, I was t greatly impressed with Witcher 2 or 3, and the cyberpunk simply confirmed that any from CDPr I wouldn’t download for free.
Yeah, I just got an email from the CD PROJEKT RED press center and that's why I'm here, looking for news or links.

Isn't GOG and CDPR sister companies and both fall under CDP?

IMO, Epic exclusive would make no sense. Assuming things haven't changed drastically by the time this game comes out, GOG will be where they'll want people to buy the game. Just like CP 2077 and previous Witchers. Also, I don't think they would want to not release on Steam, where I believe is where most of the sales from their games come from.
And last, but certainly not least, after all the problems with CP 2077 and GOG's controversial decisions (Devotion and Hitman GOTY), making it Epic exclusive would only add to the fuel. Their reputation is already tarnished, it would onloy get worse.

I think this partnership is a technical one, regarding UE5, and nothing more. But we shall see.

Yep, the series has been dumbed down with each entry for the normies and it's kind of killed it. I'm sure this new game will have tons of cringe "diversity and inclusion" as well. Hard pass.

How does this make any sense? Yeah there are cdpr games sold on epic and gog, so that indicates they WON'T be exclusie, not the other way around. And why wouldn't CDP want to sell ther games on their own store, where they will take a larger cut than the epic store? The benefit of egs is supposed to be a larger cut, but it won't be larger than herer. Also limiting the game to egs rules out steam, where they also sell their games

Jesus, the negativity! The game doesn't even have a name yet and you're already passing on it? And CDPR already said it's not planned as an EGS exclusive. There's no way, after the disastrous launch of CP2077, that CDPR would be dumb enough to tank their credibility with gamers even further.

will it be just a frame with painted good game picture and empty inside?
Welcome to the future, where all games will be developed either in Unreal Engine or in Unity...

And while UE4 was just fine and UE5 probably will be too, UE2 and UE3... those were not great. And I'm being generous.

Also, throwing money at Epic and collaborating with them... let's just hope CDPR won't lose its identity and get absorbed at some point. I'd hate to see that.

Well, I'm excited for new Witcher gaming. The Unreal Engine has had some very impressive demonstrations like that Matrix Awakens demo, so I am hopeful it will be well suited to large and detailed open world gaming. I do hope that they will keep GOG as a release platform, including at launch.
A new witcher game?

Sad to say i haven't beaten any of the games myself, and the 3rd game is suppose to be quite good.

We are not planning on making the game exclusive to one storefront.
Depends on who's flitting the bill. If CDPR is in bad straights due to CP77 then who knows what's going on.

I worked a bit with UE4 for a friend to help with some homemade filters and getting a feel for the engine. Didn't get very far but it seemed very good to me.
Makes sense considering what happened with Cyberpunk I guess. Though to me it seemed like that game's "problem" was developing for PC and PS5 and then trying to back-port it to the PS4. Unreal Engine won't solve that problem if they do the same thing again, though I'm sure this time they'll have a clear PC/PS5 goal for it.

My main issue with UE5 is the shader stuttering on PC which few developers seem to be aware of until after launch somehow.
