Creepers are... scary.
If you've played Minecraft, you'll no doubt enjoy this video. If not, you won't get it.

Yeah. They really are creepy. Except for the Skeleton. The spider is the worst for me because of one incident where I fell into a hole one block big, which just happend to lead into a dark cavern. I heard the sound of spiders so I set up a torch to see what was going on and noticed I was completely surrounded. Needless to say, I died within seconds.

This one is from the same guy, he must hate creepers by now.

They are the main reason i avoid the caves nowadays.

Strangely enough, most of my creeper-related deaths have been on the surface. The annoying thing with them is that unlike the zombies and skeletons they don't die when the sun comes up. And unlike the spiders, they stay aggressive.
I've lost count of how many times I've opened the door to venture out for a bit once the sun is up, and BOOM. There's nothing quite as unsettling as a death like that, straight out of the blue (and that's probably the main reason these things are so scary, as unlike the other mobs they'll kill you when you least expect it, and often do quite a bit of property damage as well).

AlexY: He says creepers are creepy. I'm playing on peaceful, since I'm a pussy. :3

TheCheese33: Does Peaceful turn off enemies? I think I may do that, too, until I build a giant fort that I can protect myself with.

Yes, I believe it does. I've watched my bro play on Normal and, um... Yeah, I'm staying on peaceful. For a while.

My spawns are completely opposite, i only get creepers in caves, and deep down at that. Now that i think about it, i haven't even seen them in the surface for a while.
The thing that gets me is that the first hint i get of one of the little bastards being around is the hissing noise they make, and then i get like a split second to live. Sucks.
Do you think the developer has any intention of toning down the creeper's damage? It seems woefully overpowered compared to the rest of the game.
I bought this game months ago. It's awesome.
It is wise to follow the blog though, to see what is happening with it. You can find it here
Notch is away on BIGJam right now, but he will be back Tuesday I think. He'll post a mini Seecret Friday Update then, and a proper Seecret Friday Update on Friday. He does this to make the game seem fresh while he ports it over to Survival MP. Previous Seecret Friday Updates have been snow, red stone, minecarts, boats etc. You know, cool additions that aren't actually needed.
The map is more or less infinite in size, but the height is not. You do reach a bottom.
The Creepers aren't really that overpowered. This is Survival after all. It is meant to be deadly. But once you got a nice house going on, you are pretty much safe. The Creepers doesn't blow up to get inside your house or anything. Which is why he is going to add mobs that can destroy blocks. He might modify the zombie to do so as well. That way they game really turns into a survival game.
Another thing that is good to read is the OP at the Facepunch Forum. They go through Minecraft Megathreads quite fast.

He's said that its better for a game to be to difficult then too easy.
Its more likely that he will just make everything else do more damage than tone it down.
I bought the game late last week.
I guess it comes with a time machine embedded, because you play for what feels like a few minutes only to see that hours went by in the outside world. I'm hooked.
Apparently certain people at Bethesda are hooked as well.

That explains why it takes so long for them to make games.
Minecraft has just been updated to 1.0.16. For those using the download version, you'll have to redownload the launcher. This is not the Secret Friday update (yet), just some small fixes for SMP, mostly.
Whoever made this is amazing.

Just buckled and bought the game before it goes beta and becomes more expensive. First time I've ever payed someone to alpha test their game.

Wow that must have taken some dedication to finish.
The recent run of RPS articles on this finally convinced me to install Java and give it a go. And damn is it fun. I decided to play it on peaceful (or whatever the setting is called) so I could get the hang of it without worry too much about nasties. And yet, I getting completely lost is still hugely worrying. Perhaps it's the absence of a map.
I'd built a fairly nice house and decided I needed some more wood only to then find that I couldn't remember where my house was. Took me an hour to find it =/ So now I'm thinking I need some beacons or other man-made landmarks to help me find my way. It doesn't help that I generated world has located me in an area of constant snowfall either. That really messes up visibility.
