Well, that is good news! :)
I personally hate dof's, but those shaders can also offer some nice stuff. On specific texture packs, the cel shading looks amazing. But it's a hog, i got around 10-15fps when testing those GLSL's.
Anyhow, good to know, ATI copes with gl, last time i checked they didn't like ogl. [might have been years ago]

Ralackk: Are you running it on render distance normal or lower? Far is bugged.
Thanks a lot! It worked a treat.

No problem. I hope he fixes it soon though, as you can certainly play like that but being able to see further when exploring is nice.

bansama: It is? I've been using far since I first started playing and haven't noticed any issues. How is it bugged?
Yea just black screens every now and again for me as well.

Could very well be the card as I also use an nvidia.
Version 1.3 Just got released, here is the changes list (copy & pasted from Notch blog):

* Implemented a new lighting engine with the help of MrMessiahs (can be turned off)
* Changed the options around, added a new “Graphics options” button
* Added beds. If all players in a map sleeps in a bed during night, the game immediately skips until morning
* Added three new half-size blocks
* Added Delay/Repeater redstone dust blocks
* Added whitelisting to the server. To use, enter “whitelist <cmd>” where cmd is “on”, “off”, “add <player>”, “remove <player>”, “list” or “reload”
* New save file format, old maps need to be converted (that might take a while..)
* It’s now possible to have more than five save slots, and to rename saves
* Scrollbars in both the texture pack list, and in the map selection screen
* Replaced the Mojang splash image to reflect the new logo colors
* .. and a bunch of bug fixes and tweaks!

It's not down, it's the new launcher that is "buggy", if you use the old launcher you will be able to update the game.

Oh! Gee, thanks for the tip - I guess the new launcher is full of bugs :P
Great, the New Launcher doesn't even start for me today. I guess it NEEDS the info from the server [changelog etc], which he doesn't get due to the overload. Can't even play SP now.

Dammit, he no longer has the old client available. I can't get updates!

Where did you get a copy of the old launcher?

Well I didn't replace the "minecraft.exe" file with the new one but rename it to "minecraftold.exe" so I have both in my minecraft folder :)

If i only could, i surely would.
Ha! Found a fix on Gamespot's forums. Just log into the browser version, let it update, and it stores the updated files on your computer. The new launcher still won't connect to the internet, though, which is quite frustrating.
The new launcher is re-working now.
