[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog (this one)
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic.
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

JakobFel: Bethesda's not perfect but man, people give them so much grief for no real reason. Gamers today are spoiled, entitled brats and it's disgusting. They could literally donate all of their profit for the year to children's charities and people would still find something to whine about.
I think alot of that is from fallout from ...well..Fallout 76.
Lotsof hype, disappointing game at release, annoying microtransactions, wasn't this the one
where you could steal another playerts entire belongings through a bug?
And then a company who acts (?) stupid and claims to not understand why everyone is pissed.

Kinda like when EA says they have no idea why everyone hates them.
Hint: yer this >< close to charging for the use of "w" in your games :P

Ahah ok gamers not wanting to waste their time with Bethesda crappy client are disgusting, the worst of the world, sure. I'm not getting any free game, I have bought all Quake games here and have to pay a DRM free tax when they concede that an old game can get to the platform. These games are really old and if you wanted them you probably already have them on GOG. Still no DOOM 2016 and they'll try to charge us too much when it finally gets here. And they are not a charity, don't worry.
Are gamers spoiled today? Well, it's much better now than it was when I had to pay a lot of money for import cartdriges or possibly faulty floppy disks that were hard to find (I'm from Italy), for games that were often very poor and did not receive upgrades or just fixes. Now we are getting good discounts and many good freebies on the established platforms we like, Epic store client is acceptable and gifts recent games.
Bethesda and Rockstar clients are a mess, even Ubisoft could do better in terms of launcher and games. Also I want the ga to be like click here to get the game, not steps and conditions of being forced watch their promotion on Twitch or other (See Ubisoft with Watch Dogs 2 and people going crazy to actually claim the game and have it to appear in the library). If they want to gift they can just make it claimable with one click on a better platform.
I think it's disgusting how Bethesda treats their employees (constant fear of layoffs, controlling office culture) and wastes the time and money of gamers - the Elder Scrolls Blades? Yeah and Fallout 76, just embarassing, they are a trash company.

EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda, Naughty Dog...one has to be willingly ignorant not to see the problem with these companies.

I know it is, but that's the thing: 76 wasn't anywhere near deserving of the hate it got. Fine, it wasn't what some wanted, but it doesn't hurt anyone that ONE game out of a studio's entire catalog of games doesn't line up with what some fans wanted. The game had a rough launch but it was a load of fun and it's just downright incredible now, but many won't know that because they're too blinded by their ridiculous hate to actually give it a shot.

As I said, you have a right to not bother with it but don't complain. And I never said Bethesda hasn't had its share of problems. I'm currently irritated with them over how they've implemented a battle pass in 76, but that doesn't really diminish the fact that I love their games and their overall development ethic. It doesn't require willful ignorance to be the way I am, it just requires one to be content with the fact that we're living in the greatest golden age that the games industry has ever experienced.

Oh, and don't talk to me about how disgusting it is how Bethesda supposedly treats their employees. They're one of the VERY rare companies in the industry where its employees have the ability to stick around for decades. Most studios either move you around or let you go after a game or two.

Ahah you don't choose whether I have the right to complain, snowflake. Guess what, I do. Given that all you have to say is thay I can't say anything and Bethesda is great I think we're done.

Sure
Bethesda is owned by Zenimax in case it's not clear.

CruddyHolly: .

Hard to believe you bought anything, given how you're a massive leech. There isn't a giveaway thread you aren't mooching off of across multiple language forums here on gog or regularly dropping in on begging in the community gifting thread.

You sure are a high and mighty condescending jerk for someone who's no better than a bottom feeding parasite. I hope that language was up to your liking as well, you snotty little Karen. ;) I'm sure you'll be quick to run along and tattle on me just the same.
Ahah sure thank you. I am a Karen for highlighting how bad a corporation is. I want to talk to the manager!
I used to buy all I could to support GOG when I had a job, now I can't make purchases and I'm thankful if someone wants to gift me a game I really want. I can't wait to be back on my feet and give back to the community. I gift cheaper games when I can. About the language, you know it's insulting and uncivilized, and that tells about you.
I'm in the German forum to make friends to chat with in German and write posts in the language and I have gifted games on both ga there. I'm a beginner-intermediate student and I haven't had complains from the German GOG community, that is a really nice and welcoming one. I don't understand why people are getting this so personal, making personal attacks and what I should tattle on you for. I guess some people are just fanboys of big companies and think that they must defend them, like Bethesda cares for you.

Thanks. I am still unclear as to what "the games are redeamable on the launcher" means for within those 72 hours, we'll see. Q1 was just... there. If it's the same as on Epic I'm fine with it.

Me too. The wording wasn't exactly clear what "redeemable" entails, precisely while the 72 hours they put up is practically worth an entire weekend from those dates, depending on your time zone. Before QIII was a factor, I got the impression QII was obtainable automatically the same way you get QI once they announce it, as advertised. QIII was a surprise, and generous given the amount raised for charity.

Ladies and gentlemen, please remember not to hurl insults at each other.

You aren't required to like or dislike what a company does, and you aren't required to agree with each other. You don't even have to like each other, but you do need to be civil.

Thanks for your time, and back to the giveaway announcements.

My guess is that they changed it from being unlocked by watching the stream, to just being available for unlocking for all BethesdaNet accounts during their 72-hour time window. I don't know for sure but that's just my assumption, based upon how they worded it.

My apologies, especially if anyone felt targeted by my statements. I was trying to be more general, rather than targeting anyone specifically, but I can see where that could be misconstrued as a personal attack.

My guess is that you have to actually login with your launcher during that time. If you do, the game is added automatically, as with Q1. If you don't login during that time, the game isn't added. Instead of just adding the games to ALL beth accts, only those who login (and are thus "active") get them.

Ugh. I couldn't help but respond and now I can't delete the post so there's no going around this, I have to say something. I knew I am posting an unpopular opinion so I am somewhat fine with your insults, but I do not believe your condescending apology to the general public. Silence is golden. That goes for all of us who sidetracked this thread.

Well, that's on you, then. My apology was not condescending, it was a genuine apology to anyone who felt personally attacked by my comments, despite my attempts to make a general statement. If you don't believe me, like I said, that's on you.

You can edit your post so it says something like "I changed my mind about saying anything."

If that was so, why wasn't it stated to reflect that on this page?
