rjbuffchix: But it is true that Galaxy can cause issues, no? Installing the game the old-fashioned way is not only the point of this store and the reason to buy from here...it is a good way to rule out what the potential problem is/was. My first suggestion would be to not use the "optional" client too.
It may seem a little odd to read in text for those not used to it, but the process of downloading and using the offline installer is quite manageable...for those a bit less into tech and just want to play, I would say this is where Support could come in and help such users learn how to use the offline installer.
What a great way that would be to foster brand loyalty!; helping the user and even teaching them something. But apparently it is better to just grant nigh-endless Cyberpunk refunds, a game where content is locked behind an online Galaxy requirement. Yes, that is how a DRM-free store should be, ha-ha.
Vampyre111: As the implicated old guy I'd like to say I know my way around my rig. I've been playing games and building my own systems before a lot of you took your first bite of solid food, It may seem a little odd to read in text for those not used to it, but the process of downloading and using the offline installer is quite manageable...for those a bit less into tech and just want to play, I would say this is where Support could come in and help such users learn how to use the offline installer.

I had no problems understanding or doing any of the things suggested to me. I was very grateful for all of the helpful suggestions.
As I said, I didn't think all the effort I was putting into getting this game to work were worth it since I wasn't sure I'd like it that much. I'm currently playing Disciples Liberation, Dragon's Dogma, Mech Warrior 5 Mercs and a couple others.
Don't think for a minute anyone "scared me off" being to high tech for me.
Oh I almost forgot why I came here today, Maybe I'm not starting the game right. I clicked "New Campaign" then accept. There's a "Start" button that's greyed out. Nothing I've done has lit that puppy up. I didn't even notice it til yesterday. My eyes aren't what they used to be.
One last bit, I reinstalled just the vanilla game with no DLCs and still no workies even using run as admin. I want to stop messing with this but my stubborn problem solver part won't let me.
So to clarify, you have to create a character before you can start a game.
